Middle aged ex patriot Brit living the American dream.

Wife, 2.3 kids (counting the cat), chicken in the pot, car in the garage. and a couple of nice toys.

Trying to eat right, move more and have fun doing so.

Basking in the Spark People community, and learning to appreciate that well chosen words of encouragement mean more than anything other than ones love.

My Goals:
Jan 03 2011: New goal 145# by March 1 2011.

June 20 2010: New Goal 140#


My Program:
Following the principles described in the South Beach Diet and tracking my food and exercise seems to work best for me.

Backslid in December 2010, back and resolved to do better in 2011.



Personal Information:
Middle aged Brit.

Married in June 1980 & still married, all down to my wifes tolerance of my inner child. What can I say I like my big boy toys.

Moved to the USA July 1981. Resident Alien since May 1985.

Currently an I/T Architect, specializing in enterprise software testing.



Other Information:
May of 2009 I was 189 pounds & taking pills everyday to control, blood pressure, Cholesterol and blood sugars.

My doctor suggested the South Beach Diet, I gave it a shot. By October 2009 I was down to 160.

I reached my original goal of 150 lbs in july, and set a stretch goal to reach 140 by my 56th b'day. I haven't reached 140 and seem to have "fallen" into maintenance mode. To reach a goal weight of 140 SP suggests 1,300 - 1,600 calories / day. At 1,300 I'm hungry all the time, with a goal of 1,600 I snack too often and have to watch that I don't blow through 1,600.

Looking over my stats I think 1,500 c/d and 146 - 152 lbs is about right for me. Of course if I increase my physical activity I'd adjust my calorie / diet etc.

I'm resetting my goal to a SMART goal. Specific - 145#
Measurable - 145# Acheivable - 145# Realistic - 145#
Time bound - March 1 2011.

    Glad to see you back on Spark, even if it is only Momentarily. emoticon Here is some Sunshine for you, to brighten your day.

    It is Fall in Alaska, most of the leaves have fallen now. I DO love the colors and Crisp Air of Fall.

    I am cleanng my garden up, everything has been harvested, except tomatoes and lettuce I have at home. I still need to process a lot of it, which takes time. It was a successful first year of Gardening in Alaska! Now on to winter Arts and Crafts, painting w/ fabric, knitting, crocheting, etc.
