May 2020 Oh so close to my goal but not long lasting. Some sun and fun at a historical park.

Hello! Welcome to my Spark Page.
My first Spark Trophies date back to 2009., but I have had weight issues since childhood and I have tried many different diet plans that didn't last. I bet you and I have more in common than you may think. You see, you are not alone on this journey. We are all human with the same struggles. Lets encourage and support each other!
2002 - 2009 Even though I have had weight issues since childhood around (11 years old maybe; when we start to become aware of body image) my weight blossomed to its highest in 2002 after the death of our son when I was 51 years old. I was shocked when I realized how much weight I had gained! The years are foggy in my memory, but somehow I managed to get my weight down to 190 - 200# when I discovered Spark People.
2009 - 2013 I wonder now where the years fly to! During this period progress was slow, but by following the SP Plan I got my weight down between 180 - 190#. I struggled daily with the thought of the life changes required to lose weight and found myself gaining and losing the same pounds over and over again.
2013 - 2014 I trained for my first 5K, learned about fatloser.com and The Beck Solution team here on SP. These two resources were a game changer for me and I managed to get my weight down to 170# before I had my first hip replacement followed by several complications!
2014 - 2015 I had my second hip replacement in less than a years time. I was finally feeling great physically, but my weight was stationary. I took the year off from the diet world and celebrated life! Which also brought back 10#.
2015 - 2018 I struggled for an entire year with a knee injury that has never completely resolved itself even after a repair of a Meniscus Tear. So I continue to have some pain in my right knee that exercise actually seems to help somewhat.
This is what I wrote for January 1, 2019 - So here I find myself in 2019 with new found determination! Starting at 180# on January 1, I am determined to get to my first goal of 160# this year.
2019 has brought me several positive things that have moved me toward being healthier. My determination brought me down to 165# today, January 1. I can mostly thank B.L. E. for that. I have also embraced healthier foods in general - salads instead of sandwiches, more veggies in place of carbs at mealtime, more WFPB eating, recognizing my emotional eating more readily, accepting that weight loss requires a change in attitude and lifestyle. I have also followed my fitness schedule more consistently this year. It is a slow process. I still have more improvements to make. It is 1 STEP AT A TIME!
HAPPY 2020!
2020 - December 26: It looks like 2019 was a year of experimentation in BLE and WFPB eating, but reaching my goal weight of 160# remained elusive. This year I will not reach that goal either although I did see it for just a "blink of an eye" this past Spring. The Covid pandemic and politics has taken it's toll on many of us and I have fought an emotional rollercoaster for several months now. But that "blink" has shown me that I am indeed capable of reaching my goal weight of 160# and as my outer world settles down I am hopeful that my inner world will also. I still embrace many of the healthy eating beliefs of 2019 and I will strive to put them back in place in 2021!
FINDING MY BALANCE IN LIFE -
