I'm 70+ and live in the Midwest. We have 3 living children, 2 DILs, 2 DGSs, ages 17 and 14, and a grown DGD who is mommy to our great-grandchildren, 2 girls and a boy!! Being overweight has been a problem for me since my last pregnancy well over 40 years ago! I've probably lost 750 pounds in my life, only to put it all back on time and time again. I also have osteoarthritis and hauling all this weight around is not good for that. So, in the interest of preserving my replaced hips, enjoying life, and above all, being healthier, I'm working on improving my general health and becoming more active--would love to keep up with the younger generation for a very long time! SparkPeople is giving me that chance!

My Goals:
My overall goals are simple. I want to lead a healthier lifestyle that helps me to have the energy and enthusiasm to be active and happy. In order to do this, I will take off the excess pounds by eating healthier and working on my fitness.

My Program:
My program is also simple:
1. I will be focusing on a high fiber eating plan, which includes 8-10 glasses of water/fluids per day. This will include getting an appropriate balance of protein, carbs and fats.
2. I will participate in the Silver Sneakers (when they become available again) and water exercise programs at the Y 3-5 times each week. Fitness may be my friend, but I'm still trying to get make it my best friend--difficult since I'm not really much of a fan. LOL
3. I will weigh in weekly and actively participate in the 2020 5% Fall Challenge, as well as my team activities.

Personal Information:

Other Information:
I love to read, do genealogy, work on jigsaw puzzles, and spend as much family time as possible with our grandsons and greats. Notice I do not include exercise in my "loves," but I do make myself work on fitness, with that as the over-riding goal: fitness.

HI Jeannie do the research on some other models,,,, with the fitbits we pay for the name, which to me means NOT A THING!! I had a Dr say "OHhhh is that a FIBIT?" as if she were semi impressed, shoot I AM NOT!! She's a DR she can afford anything she wishes no doubt.

I HAD an Iphone and the day I accidently DROPPED IT down FIVE flights of stairs, I actually stood there laughing HOPING it was BROKEN beyond repair. MUCH to my Delight it was!! WOOHOO!! Give me a Samsung ANY DAY!! Hehehehe would it surprise you to know I used to drive poor MaryAnn NUTS? She'd keep things until they couldn't be fixed any more.

THere are some really nice models that are off brands that last long ,,, do some funky things. Hmmm at first I was so curious as to how much or LITTLE As the case is (LOLOL) did I sleep? But, now? I MIGHT take a casual look at it. MIGHT.

WOOHOO you are all signed up for the WINTAH TEAM!! YEAH YEAH YEAH! Let's ENJOY THE DAY!

HI Jeannie!! I own a Fitbit Versa Lite. I waited until this time of year last year and got it on sale for $129!! WOOHOO!!

It depends on what it is you are looking for. I like that it tells me in details how my sleep is. I know now that I really DO Sleep HORRIBLE and have not in a year gotten an "excellent" night of sleep, rarely a "Good" mostly "Fair" and "Poor". Each type of walk does a lot of different thing. I'm sure that many of the less expensive watches are equally as good,,, just depends on the bells and whistles you want. A neighbor has a cheaper one and she LOVES IT so much. I can't remember what she has, she got it at Best Buy,,, if anyone still dares to go to a brick store. At this point I'd be ever so cautious.

    Hi Jeannie -

We came down to Florida about two weeks ago and plan to stay until sometime in April. We too are just sticking close to the house here. My husband gets the mail and groceries since he is healthier than I am. (according to him) I can count on one hand the number of times I've left the house (north or south) since last March. We spent 4 months up north this past summer but didn't even see any family members - just stayed at the house and did normal maintenance. We are hoping to be in Florida permanently within the next two-three years since we are both getting tired of driving back and forth twice a year.

Hope everything is going fine for you and your family. Also hope that 2021 will be a year without covid -19 with things returning to normal. It looks, however, like we will all be wearing masks for a long time when we are out in public! (Sometimes it seems like we seniors are the only ones wearing masks, too!)
