I’m almost 9 years retired in my mid-seventies and want to continue enjoying an active engaged life. I have had a high energy level and have been able to use a Fitbit and Sparkpeople to lose 35+ pounds 235 to low of 186. I have gained to 219 and am committed to going in the right direction again. The pandemic has forced me to realize that I am not 20 years old and want to extend my healthspan (not just lifespan) as much as possible. Instead of eating lunches with friends and having a beer or two. I have suspended drinking any booze and have prepared my own lunches and lost another 20 pounds. I am below 200 and plan to stay here.. I have found tracking food intake and daily monitoring of results the best way to sustain motivation. I do a component of cardiac and strength training daily, and emphasize PT exercises that I have learned. We did get vaccinated so look forward to being able to visit friends who are vacced up and travel perhaps. I am personally recommitting to daily monitoring with immediate adjustments as a life long strategy, rather than the diet mentality, or yo yo on and off mostly off, approach which I know will not work. I am aspiring to be a 99er and will work toward that goal. I think living to 100 is overreaching and arrogant, so 99 is level headed and a more doable goal. I am almost overweight right now! That is instead of obese.

monitor intake and weight daily and reward consistency.. Do a routine of walking, or biking, or kayaking, or some cardio every day and some PT or strength training and balance work daily also.

    Hi Joe, I joined Spark August of 2011. It's been so long since I reached my goal which for some crazy reason I keep lowering it. I guess I'm afraid to relax over the fact that I'm not heavy any longer. The funny thing about it is that as I lost weight a got shorter in height. In fact one of my Grandson said to me "Gramma, soon you will be just a voice". Good sense of humor.

    Well done Joe! I went AF for both January and February. March = 2 bottles of wine. I will enjoy some over Easter and then lay off again.
