Enjoying the Ft. Lauderdale beach! Thank you Lord for good health!
new mountains to climb!
Gearing up for another great hiking season. This year's goal is to hike all the Maine mountains that are 4,000 ft in elevation or higher. Katahdin is our next major climb!

WOW, that climb is a workout in itself, especially with those heavy kettlebells....and then were they doing their kettlebell workout up there at the summit as well? 3118 days ago

Once you have been in Colorado for a while your body acclimates. Hemocrit levels increase and your body produces enzymes that speeds oxygen to your cells.
One way to avoid altitude sickness is to drink lots of water. It is also a good idea to wear lots of sunblock at really high-altitude because the atmosphere lets more UV rays through.
I grew up at high-altitude. I get up every morning at 8,500 feet. I have certain physical anomalies that help me cope with altitude. The left ventricle of my heart is huge. I have a higher density of capillaries in my body. My lung capacity is 130% to 150% of normal. My hemocrit level is extremely high.
As a result, I am much more competitive in high-altitude trail races that road races at lower elevation.
I am glad you liked Colorado. Denver is actually a nice city that caters to cyclist. Although not good, Colorado has one of the lowest obesity levels in the USA.
