I am a married, 37 yr old mother of two wonderful girls. I have been overweight my entire life and started on a lifetime of failed diet attempts when I was only 5 yrs old. I have lost all motivation to try crazy, drastic diets as they have only helped me to gain more weight every time I "succeeded" at losing. I am looking for a lifestyle change that can impact the quality of life for me and my whole family. I know I can't continue to live this way so now it is time to start living the right way!

2010-08-10 Update
Well I fell of the new healthy me wagon in about Novemeber 2009. I hung around the site, keeping connected and praying that some motivation would return to me. During that time I was typically physically active with my family (skating, playing, chasing the kids etc) but really did not exercise in a tangible way. I returned to binge eating and just terrible eating in general but I seem to have maintained my weight which is something to be happy about in light of my actions!

I am back now with an odd sense of peace and clarity about my journey. I am here willingly and I hazard to say even eagerly to start incorporating real changes and see some real results. I am putting no pressure on myself other than a commitment to remind myself that I am making choices every minute of every day and it is entirely possible for me to take control of those choices in a positive way. I have had some sort of epiphany that in a nutshell involves the fact that I want to do this for me. Nobody is making me do this and I'm not doing it for any other reason other than wanting to. I have NEVER felt this way before so I am going to go with it and not ask questions. I have a funny feeling that the time may have come for me to make some forever changes. We'll see where it takes me!

For now my main goal is to try to incorporate some meaningful physical activity into every day. I'll keep you posted on that!

2011-04-26 Update
Oh my goodness the changes a few months can bring!! My journey has continued with it's ups and downs but for the most part I have continued moving downwards to a new smaller me! I have been truly committed to daily activity which I think has been my key to success thus far. I feel like a new person. Everything is easier, I have so much more energy and I really am happy with fitting smaller clothes and looking better! I have gotten to the point where I can actually run on my treadmill now and I have a goal of running an actual 5K outside before the summer is over. I hope I can manage it. I have orthoscopic surgery on my knee in June so the results and recovery from that will determine how far I get this summer. I'm going to put my weight loss tracking here with the disclaimer that I got a new scale and these were the old scale numbers. I don't want to let go of them! The more accurate numbers are down on the right.

My Goals:
My biggest goal is to make small positive changes that impact my weight and health. I am so emotionally done with wholeheartedly committing to weight loss plans that leave me feeling like a failure when I can't maintain the drastic changes long term. My goal is to slowly adopt a healthy lifestyle that will show the results slowly but surely.

My Program:
Right now I have recently become active after being in-active for over 5 years. I am focussed on walking (outside and/or on my treadmill) as a start. I want to be active every day. I'm starting off eating wisely by ensuring I eat breakfast and drink my water. I am focussing on eating protein every time I eat and restricting/monitoring the carbs I eat. Nothing drastic and nothing is truly taboo but it is all about moderation. I have also been working on cutting out evening snacking. Once this is all routine, I will focus on more.

Personal Information:
I live in rural Manitoba about 20 mins outside of Winnipeg. My favorite things are my family, my beautiful small acerage which I garden relentlessly on, and my dogs. I love the outdoors and regularly go camping. I love all things pretty with my favorites being flowers and butterflies.
