The ketogenic way of eating and living has saved my life, not only through weight loss but through health gain.
Ketogenic eating is healthy eating, but it involves a paradigm shift. The standard American diet (SAD) is ruining the health of people, and traditional weight loss methods don't work in the long-term, except for a tiny amount of people.
How is the Ketogenic way of eating defined? I go with a strict definition which induces nutritional ketosis and reverses type 2 diabetes.
This means I eat a high healthy fat, moderate protein and low carb diet. I don't track calories, and I also don't work too hard on figuring out macro percentages.
What do I do instead?
I eat:
20-30 grams of carbs a day, mostly in the form of leafy green vegetables
75 grams of protein a day
and healthy fats to satiety
I also only eat 1, maybe 2 times a day and follow a natural intermittent fasting protocol.
I don't eat junk food, highly processed foods or grains. No sodas, diet or otherwise.
My drinks of choice are water, tea and coffee. I'll occasionally have a sparkling flavored water if I'm craving carbonation, and maybe a glass of white wine a couple of times a year, but that's it.
My health is the most important thing in my life, and I guard it zealously.
I didn't come to this way of living without extensive research, and science (and my experience) definitely support this way of living.
I call it a way of living because the ketogenic lifestyle encompasses more than diet...sleep, stress, activity, spirituality, mental outlook, atitude...it's all a vital part of being ketogenic.
As for fitness, I'm no longer trapped on the chronic cardio treadmill. I follow a Primal way of being active as defined by Mark Sisson on his website, Mark's Daily Apple ( http://marksdailyapple.com )
I love being healthy and fit and active, and I only do exercise that I like, which is awesome!
While I'm not quite at my goal weight, it's getting closer all the time, but my weight is not as big a deal to me as my regained health.

My goal weight is 145-150, but I'm not on a race to get there.
What's more important to me is my health, and that has been achieved! My type 2 diabetes is completely reversed, I am no longer even pre-diabetic, and my blood pressure is completely normal, all without medication, simply through changing my diet.
