Survive & Thrive
All of the below still describes me. I am still fighting the battle against chronic illness. I have had to lay off of exercise for long periods of time for the past 2 1/2 years; but always do it when I can because it is important to stay active & strong & I love how good it makes me feel within minutes. It amazes me that I have not lost more strength than what I have. Lack of exercise took it's toll on my weight & I gained some of it back. Hopefully, if I can keep the regular exercise up, ...

It amazes me that I have not lost more strength than what I have. Lack of exercise took it's toll on my weight & I gained some of it back. Hopefully, if I can keep the regular exercise up, instead of spending all of that time sleeping; I will get back to where I was before the extended set-back. I intend to survive each day with God's help & eventually I am going to be able to say that I am "thriving"! That is my goal :)

I am a farm wife with 2 young adult sons. I work in an office in town. In my spare time, I like to be as active as I can. I am outside as much as possible, either "horsing" around or gardening. I also joined a gym close to where I work about 14 years ago, so it's easy to fit in a workout during my lunch break & it helps me get through the day, especially the really tough days . Usually no matter how sore and tired I am, I will feel better after doing a workout and stretches atleast for a while. What I do depends on what my body will put up with at the time. Sometimes I have to lay off the weights, as later it will take me down a little too far. Lately, I have been slowly able to increase what I have been doing and working back into a full weight schedule. About 6 years ago I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and later told it was chronic fatigue instead. Earlier this year I started some treatments for the coinfections of Lyme, that is helping quite a bit.
I've also noticed that I am what I eat; and the more things I eat with sugar in them, the worse I feel... energy and joints. I started Spark People in hopes of getting control of those cravings and so far it is working great although the scale doesn't exactly show it, I've noticed it mostly in the way my clothes fit. I'm sure that if I could lose at least another 15 - 20 pounds that I'm packing that it would also help.
