Life with Margomaniac is Margomania
Hello from Canada. I got the word from the doctor that I need to take control of my weight and get back into a healthier lifestyle. I needed this motivation to spur me into action. I am really revved up to accomplish my goals. Living alone, I got into some bad eating habits and I intend to correct that and am counting on the support from SparkPeople to help me and I, in turn, will help others.

I am now becoming involved more in the community. For the past number of years I have been driving seniors to appointments, shopping and to see friends using their cars as I no longer own one.

2019
This past couple of years have been rough medically speaking. I have been diagnosed with Hyperparathyroidism and had surgery to remove the diseased gland and one was embedded in my thyroid so part of that gland was also removed. Other issues have presented themselves and I am working with 3 specialists to remedy the situation with changes to meds and a new way of getting proper nutrition. I am nearly to my goal weight and have lost 80 + pounds. I joined Homemade Cooking and am learning to Cook, Eat, Listen...good nutrition and eating to satisfaction is a better lifestyle to achieve a NO DIET way of life.
2017
New year, new challenges. I need to designate appointments with this site. I am so busy with my volunteer work that I hardly have time to myself. Working towards new goals to lose the weight AGAIN and for the LAST time!
2014 -2016
I am recovering from an episode that happened in 2013 that has affected my breathing. Each day I face new & different challenges, but with Fall here (sort of) I want to get out and walk again. I do find that a huge challenge most days as it is difficult to do any exercise if you cannot breathe...baby steps, Margo, baby steps.
2013
So far I am enjoying my new place and am slowly emptying boxes and downsizing. I have been taking two seniors to various doctors' appointments and shopping...One had surgery for a hip replacement and the other emergency surgery for gall bladder. I am building muscles loading and unloading their rollators (walkers with wheels).
2012
I have added house-sitting to my numerous 'jobs' and I am also moving this summer. I can no longer tolerate the downstairs tenant and desperately need a full night's sleep.
2011
I have been in a yo-yo effect plateau for a while, but just kept moving along and staying positive. My Mom died in November and the last part of 2010 was rough mentally for me. I tried and mostly succeeded in my goals by staying with SparkPeople. This is the BEST place to be on the internet and the SUPPORT & FRIENDSHIP keeps me motivated and I just try to pay it forward!!!
2010
I have put on a considerable amount of weight trying to adjust to some new medication and once the dosage is set right for me I should continue with weight loss. In the meantime, I am not changing too much...still exercising each day, drinking my water and eating my freggies.
I still love SparkPeople and all the support and friendship here. I bought 'The Spark' and am reading it and getting lots of ideas for self improvement. WooHoo!!!!

My goal is to adopt a much healthier lifestyle with regards to food, nutrition and exercise habits.

2019-Homemade Cooking is the answer to my prayers. COOK-EAT-LISTEN IS NOW MY MOTTO.
2014- 2017 -I have some different guidelines to follow because of a potentially life-threatening medical problem. I am continuing with Spark as I am still seeing improvements and am also able to motivate others on various teams and challenges.
I was doing very well with weight loss, but have had a serious health setback, regained some of the weight and am now starting out again with baby steps (literally)
PRIOR
In the past,I belonged to a weight loss clinic and found Spark People about 2 weeks after I had started my program there. The clinic closed at the end of 2008. According to the doctor's record of my weight I started at 205 pounds and had lost 53 pounds by that date.
Personal Information:
I am from a border city in Ontario and have lived in both Canada and the USA. Family history spans both countries for centuries now and I am equally at home in both places.
I have traveled North America Atlantic to Pacific, Hudson Bay to the Gulf of Mexico. Visited all 10 provinces, 1 territory and 49 of 50 U.S. states,as well as Antigua and Nevis in the Caribbean . Alaska is one of my favorites to visit.
I am working on my list of things to do before I die and travel more is one item.
I am 65 (Dec. 2014)and most days feel like I am in my 30's, although I can not do exactly what I did back then...but we all know that feeling as we are aging.
