Hello, I can feel the days slipping away from me. So as of today, March 9, 2017, I have decided to take back my life. I have started my ketogenic diet journey. My beginning weight was 266 lbs. There is only one direction to move, and that is forward.

My Goals:

My Program:
I follow a strict ketogenic diet of: 5% Carbs or less, 20% Protein and 75% Fat.

My macros for my body weight and condition break down as: 20g Carbs, 75g Protein and 130g Fat.

I found my recommended macro numbers at:

I chose the "moderate deficit" option to follow. There are pictures at the bottom of the page to help you determine your body fat %.

I also drink 1/2 my body weight in ounces of water a day. So for example, you weigh 200 lbs. that means you would drink 100 ounces of water daily.

This way of eating acts as a natural diuretic, so keeping very hydrated is crucial to losing weight. Not drinking enough water can cause a weight loss stall.

Personal Information:
I'm pretty embarrassed to admit I let myself get into such deplorable physical condition. We all hit a wall that makes us stop, assess our current situation and question our choices. Mine happened to be a life threatening disease, cancer.

As if diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and neuropathy weren't reason enough. But somewhere in my brain, I filed those "conditions" as manageable. After all, I was taking medications to "control" them.

This cancer business was a whole new level. Medicine wasn't going to allow me to keep on tootlin' down the road as if nothing was going on.

My oncologist recommended the ketogenic diet to me as a start in my treatment plan. He spoke of how it has been documented as halting cancer cell growth. This is his hope and prediction for me.

He even spoke of cases of tumors shrinking and the cancer disappearing in some instances. He was clear to point out that some forms of cancer respond better than others with the keto

    Are you interested in a Challenge?

    The Biggest Loser goes for 10 weeks. It consists of 10 teams participating in weekly Fitness and Nutrition challenges. The Winter challenge will be getting started the beginning of December. It consists of fitness and nutrition challenges that are often in a form of a game. If for some reason you cannot do a challenge then they are modified to meat your needs. Often we do the challenge in a game form, we have BINGO and TIC TAC TOE or seasonally themed. For Fall we had a World Series and a Haunted House.
