Introduction Text I recently retired as a nursing professor. As a professor, I spent most of my time and energy teaching how to be healthy and to teach others to be healthy. I tried to be healthy myself but many times I put myself last and suffered weight gain over the years. I spent much of my time sitting at a computer grading papers and working on my masters and doctorate degrees. Now that I am retired, it is time to put my health first. I am a wife to a great supportive husband and will celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary this year. We have 3 adult children and 6 grandchildren. I love kitties, swimming, walking on the beach, and listening to audio books. I won’t get to walk on the beach very much anymore; we just moved from Hawaii to Idaho. It was too expensive to stay in Hawaii on our retirement income. We moved to a retirement community with an indoor pool and an exercise room, which we have used every day.

Loose weight and gain health. I have osteoarthritis in my knees and I need to get weight off for less strain on my knees.

I just started the Loose Weight and Keep it off, by Harvard Medical School, which suggested Spark People for tracking my fitness, food, and setting goals.

I just retired as a nursing professor from University of Hawaii.
