I've been kinda discouraged lately as I haven't seen as much progress as I would like, but I found this quote on a fellow sparker's page, and it reminded me of what's important along this journey. I hope it can inspire others who read it here as well:
"A man who wants something will find a way; a man who doesn't will find an excuse." - Stephan Dolley Jr.

Update 3/24/09: So I figured out that my plateau was happening because I had absolutely no idea that I was eating an extra 300-400 calories a day... while Spark said that this was ok, I updated my goals and BAM! down goes my calorie range. I'm totally ready to see the inches fly off now!
Also, I am updating my goals because I am about as poor as I can be. So little rewards will be my pleasure.
Old goals:
Goal 1 - 190 lbs *MET* 7/25/08
*REWARD*- Haircut!!
Goal 2 - 175 lbs *MET* 10/22/08
*REWARD*- A new video game. :D
Goal 3 - 160 lbs *MET* 6/3/09
*REWARD*- New wardrobe!! (Yeah right... see updated goals)
Goal 4 -150 lbs!!
*REWARD*- Hopefully, a vacation!
New goals:
SW: 170
Goal 1 - 170 lbs *MET* 3/24/09
*REWARD* - A relaxing half-hour of listening to Brad play the guitar XD
Goal 2 - 165 lbs *MET* 4/25/09
*REWARD* - Underwear and bras, sexy ones! At least one of each. XD
Goal 3 - 160 lbs *MET* 6/3/09
*REWARD* - Dinner and a movie with my parents (hopefully, unless I'm in Philly by then, then an HRM if I have money)--I don't have money, so... if they still have my dress at DEB, I'm buying that!
Goal 4 - 155 lbs
*REWARD* - 2 new pairs of pants
Goal 5 - 150 lbs
*REWARD* - 2 new shirts
Goal 6 - 145 lbs ???
*REWARD* -Anything I want

Update 12/21/08: I am no longer obese. I didn't record the day this happened, but I realized it--I am now overweight!! That shouldn't be exciting, but it is--I am now at a BMI of about 28. So obviously something I did was good. :]
Having a bit of trouble now. Seem to have hit a plateau. I'm hoping adding in a bit of exercise will jump-start the losses again.
Here's to bikini season and looking good for it!

I just thought I'd give everyone a little bit of my life story here now... I'm just procrastinating on something else I have to do.
Hello, my name is Liz. I have been obese for the last 3 years, overweight for at least the last 8-10. And I'm only 18. I have had one heckuva time trying to lose weight before, but none of them were healthy, and most were induced by a mild depression.
I struggle with eating habits. I struggle more with exercise. I used to play soccer when I was little, and I continued playing it for about 7-8 years... but even while I was playing it, I gained weight. I loved soccer, and I eventually quit because A) I couldn't keep up with the rest of the players and B) nobody liked me. I do enjoy bowling now, but don't get to do it very often.
Surprisingly, I do love doing activities. I love walking, playing basketball, playing soccer, softball, and most other sports--the only stipulation is for it to be a non-competitive atmosphere. Which is impossible in America. Which is why I don't play.
I got involved in SparkPeople in July '08 after a recommendation by my beautiful roommate, RAINSTORMER. She is amazing. I hadn't been actively losing weight, but as always, just moping and doing nothing about it. Even after I had gained 10 pounds during my first year at college.
Things are going well so far (Aug '08-a little over one month later). I've lost a total of about 10 pounds, I'm more motivated to walk to do errands, I've got more energy, and I'm all-around more positive. I look forward to more positive results in the future, but that might be hard when I move back in to the dorms on the 26... wish me luck! I have a mandatory meal plan at my school and God knows they don't serve anything healthy... so we'll see how that goes.
So all in all, I'm on a mission to try to lose weight and preserve myself in order to have a long, happy, and healthy life, with hopefully a large family. :] Wish me luck!
