Thank you for visiting my SparkPage! I discovered SparkPeople in early January 2019 after a short search for a support group to help me achieve a 110-pound weight loss goal. Four months before this, my husband and I started doing CICO (calories-in, calories-out) to get a handle on our expanding waistlines. Being 67 years old and diabetic and with many obesity-related health issues, I'd pretty much given up the idea of ever being at a healthy weight or ever having a healthy body. Because of SparkPeople and CICO, these goals have become doable and reachable. I love the articles and the team-communities on this website and the recipes, which are so very good. So, my motto is to keep on Sparking and we'll all get there!

My Goals:
My short-term goal is to get under 200 lbs. and whenever that happens is OK by me. Then on to reaching 191 pounds which will mean I'm no longer considered to be "obese". My longer-term goal is to reach my goal weight by early October of 2021. It doesn't matter to me if that date is overrun. I'll just keep on doing what I need to in order to get healthy and reach a healthy weight. Once at goal, then comes maintenance; the hardest part of the weight loss journey. I anticipate that I'll be actively maintaining for the rest of my life.

My Program:
Charting all food, calories, protein, exercise, water intake in a Diet Minder food journal daily. Daily calorie cap is variable, depending on my activity level. Protein intake over 90 grams daily. At least 5 servings of fruit and vegetables daily. Low-GI carbohydrates preferred. Over 64 ounces of water or other clear, non-caloric beverages daily. Weekly, 180 minutes of moderate exercise. I take Sundays off, but eat conservatively and still strive for 64 ounces of water on that day.

Personal Information:
I love Jesus. I'm a devoted wife of 40 years, mother of 2 grown daughters and grandmother with 3 wonderful grandsons. I'm a retired registered health information technologist with a keen interest in all things medical. I love to attend my church, garden, exercise, sing, think, read, do sudoku and crossword puzzles, sew, cook, bake, eat and just plain enjoy life very much. I've had numerous health challenges and setbacks with all of them related to obesity. It's time to change this picture!

Other Information:
I love the encouragement and comradery of a group support system and am finding that here on SparkPeople.

Good evening! You are welcome. I am a night owl also. You are right I am a survivor, I will get through this also. That is true everyday is a good day when we live a life of gratitude. I feel that on the down days that is when counting our blessings and focusing on what we are grateful for it is the most important time to not lose focus of that. Your cranberry apple zinger sounds so good. I hope that you are having a great Friday!

I had an okay day today thank you. I am sad with the wildfires that are raging in the mountains 60 miles northwest of here. You can relate I'm sure as you said that you are in the SF Bay area. I am hunkering down here also. I am unemployed I have been appealing my disability claim for years. I did have a court date on July 1st but needed to be rescheduled because of the virus no new court date has been set as of yet. I feel for those that have lost jobs and are struggling also. i like doing Sudoku puzzles also I just started a month ago with them. I haven't been able to keep up with the house as much as I would like. How is the New York Times? I agree these are very momentous times we are living through right now. I have 2 grown sons my oldest will be 32 on November 5th he lives nearby with his 7 month old puppy. My youngest son is 29 and he is still living here with me. I am happy that you are able to face-time so you can see your grandson grow up, they grow up so fast. I suffer from depression due to a lot of family members dying way to soon and getting through cancer only to suffer from pain because of the damage the chemo caused and the health problems that have popped up from nit taking care of myself. I have had cats all of my life and 8 years ago I started having allergies out of nowhere. I had allergy testing done turns out I am allergic to the cats. I will suffer with it I am not going to give them up. I will put up some pictures of my cats so you can enjoy them too emoticon
Take care......I hope you had a good day!
