Thank you for visiting my SparkPage! I discovered SparkPeople in early January 2019 after a short search for a support group to help me achieve a 110-pound weight loss goal. Four months before this, my husband and I started doing CICO (calories-in, calories-out) to get a handle on our expanding waistlines. Being 67 years old and diabetic and with many obesity-related health issues, I'd pretty much given up the idea of ever being at a healthy weight or ever having a healthy body. Because of ...

Because of SparkPeople and CICO, these goals have become doable and reachable. I love the articles and the team-communities on this website and the recipes, which are so very good. So, my motto is to keep on Sparking and we'll all get there!

My Goals:
My short-term goal is to get under 200 lbs. and whenever that happens is OK by me. Then on to reaching 191 pounds which will mean I'm no longer considered to be "obese". My longer-term goal is to reach my goal weight by early October of 2021. It doesn't matter to me if that date is overrun. I'll just keep on doing what I need to in order to get healthy and reach a healthy weight. Once at goal, then comes maintenance; the hardest part of the weight loss journey. I anticipate that I'll be actively maintaining for the rest of my life.
My Program:
Charting all food, calories, protein, exercise, water intake in a Diet Minder food journal daily. Daily calorie cap is variable, depending on my activity level. Protein intake over 90 grams daily. At least 5 servings of fruit and vegetables daily. Low-GI carbohydrates preferred. Over 64 ounces of water or other clear, non-caloric beverages daily. Weekly, 180 minutes of moderate exercise. I take Sundays off, but eat conservatively and still strive for 64 ounces of water on that day.
Personal Information:
I love Jesus. I'm a devoted wife of 40 years, mother of 2 grown daughters and grandmother with 3 wonderful grandsons. I'm a retired registered health information technologist with a keen interest in all things medical. I love to attend my church, garden, exercise, sing, think, read, do sudoku and crossword puzzles, sew, cook, bake, eat and just plain enjoy life very much. I've had numerous health challenges and setbacks with all of them related to obesity. It's time to change this picture!
Other Information:
I love the encouragement and comradery of a group support system and am finding that here on SparkPeople.
