Greetings! I'm Susan. I am a New England native who has lived in sunny Florida for most of my adult life. I have a great husband and two wonderful grown sons. The Lord Jesus Christ saved my soul and I'm so thankful to know I have a home in heaven. What about you, friend? These days I am walking my way to a weight of 140. (Edit: I’d be thrilled with 148). More importantly, my desire is to live a healthy lifestyle and remain mobile and in my right mind all the days the Lord gives me on this earth. Thank you to Chris Downie and to everyone at SparkPeople for this great community. Together we can reach our goals!

My Goals:
I want to weigh 140. I want to be healthy and in shape. I want to lower my triglycerides and raise my HDL. I would like to be able to get off my cholesterol & triglyceride medications. I want to learn to cook heathy and delicious food that my whole family will love. I just figured out on the BMI calculator that I will be out of the "obese" category when I weigh 174.8. As of today, May 1, 2014, I am 41.6 pounds away. Today I weigh 216.4, down from an all-time high of 223 or so in February. I finally gave up soda on January 22, 2014 - even diet soda - and my A1C dropped from 6.0 to 4.9!! Huge accomplishment for me. Huge.
October 1, 2020 Update - I now weigh 237.8. I don't even remember how long I went without soda the last time I quit. I think about 8 weeks. But I actually did give up soda on July 8, 2019, and have not had any since. My last A1C was 6.3 (6.5 is considered diabetic), but my triglycerides were within the normal range. My HDL is still too low. I just retired about 4.5
My Program:
Weigh and measure all my food. Track all my food and fitness minutes. Read the Bible every day. Get 10,000 steps every day; do strength training 2-3/x weekly. Adhere to low carb eating plan.
