My health is much better than it was when I started SP about 8 years ago. My GI problems are well under control now through the help of diet, vitamins, and one medication. My cholesterol is way down due to exercise, improved diet, and taking daily fish oil pills. My blood pressure continues to be good, and I continue to watch my sodium intake to keep it that way. My Goals:
Trying to get my weight down from obese to overweight and maybe into the normal range, though this has always been difficult for me to maintain. I do cardio about 5-6 times a week right now, mostly walking, but also rebounding, which is new for me. My current goal is to add in strength training 2-3 times per week. My diet is much improved with the pandemic. I find it difficult to eat out because of the logistics of getting takeout food, so I have tended to cook almost exclusively at home the last 6 months. I am trying many new recipes off of Eating Well.com and other healthy eating websites.
My Program:
- I follow the "No S" Diet. No snacks, sweets, or second helpings except on days that start with S (Saturdays, Sundays, sick days, and specials days like holidays or birthdays). It's that easy and it's really helped me lose weight over the last 4 months.
- Use Spark People to track my food and nutrition daily. Also, track my sodium levels and keep them within range using the nutrition tracker. I find I am very susceptible to gaining water weight if I have too much sodium.
- Exercise 5-6 days per week (cardio) and 2-3 times per week (ST).
- Go to TOPS weekly (Tues. nights) and weigh in and stay for the program.
- Do the BL/BLC Challenges on SP regularly to maintain accountability. (I was doing the 5% Challenges as well but found that doing all three was too difficult, so I gave that one up.)
- My gym is currently closed because of pandemic, but when it reopens, I would like to go 2-3 times per week to do weight machines, swim, bike machine, treadmill, etc. Just things to mix up
Personal Information:
Diana Mildred from Riverside, CA. I work as a junior accountant for a very small firm in Orange County, CA. I commute to work two days per week and work from home in my home office the other three days. While I really enjoy working from home and having the flexibility of doing that, I also am enjoying going into the office twice a week and seeing my boss and coworker (there's only three of us there when I'm there) and interacting with them. I get a lot of training on those days and my coworker and I help each other out on projects and bounce ideas off of each other.
Other Information:
My faith is very important to me and is helping to see me through my weight lose journey. I feel that God wants to see us to be healthy and not to use our bodies improperly. I am an Orthodox Christian and while I am doing church at home during the pandemic, I await the day that it is more safe for me to return to my parish church and my friends. I miss them all very much.
