    ZUMBALOVER2: In this book I was reading, a tempo run was described as a run in which you force yourself to complete the entire run at a particular pace, faster than normal. It's one of the ways you increase your speed (along with other types of running, like intervals). The exact pace is up to you, but it has to be tougher than your typical pace. It should be challenging, or at least, more challenging than the pace at which you would do a long run or the pace at which you do most of your running.

    The reason I actually did my last tempo run a bit faster was because I over-estimated the distance between myself and the mile markers, so I thought I was running a bit behind when I wasn't and forced myself to pick up the pace. A treadmill would keep that from happening, with the speed settings, but I'm okay with how it worked out. :) I'm still remarkably slow though, haha. My tempo runs are like my friends' easy runs.
