My mood today... taught my 2nd Foundations of Yoga class. The theme was "letting go." What can you let go of today that is no longer serving you?I love this photo! If you have a hard time getting to your mat, commit to short bursts throughout your day: 10 minutes of standing yoga on your morning break, 15 minutes after work, 5 minutes before bed to wind down. This kind of consistent practice will yield huge health benefits: a more robust immune system and improved mental health, strength, mobility and balance. PS: This kid got all A's and B's on her report card. Her goal is to make the honor roll like her big brother, which I know she will easily do!! I'm so happy that she is having such a great first year in middle school. Last year was hard for her socially, but she has a new BFF (and solidified another friendship this summer). 🥰💖🧘♀️So I've definitively identified my Achilles heel in maintaining: tracking my food for the WHOLE day (sigh). I do everything else very well... oh, and I love to eat (you wouldn't understand). 😆 (Sigh again...)
I have to think of ways to reward myself for tracking each day, which will take some thought because I am already pretty good to myself...
PS: Here's a lovely picture of a cairn. I love cairns for their aesthetic appeal and also for their symbolism.Bundled up for my morning run... it was snowing very lightly. Learning to have a sense of humor about my weight gain as I practice positive self talk.

Ps: I’m on my fourth day of food tracking and the scale rewarded me this morning.💕Rest day for exercise... ran errands with the family and got Lucia x-country skis, boots and poles. We are ready for some snow!
Continuing with the tracking and holding steady with my first pound down (I had trouble maintaining, but keeping at it with an extremely moderate - and very realistic - weight loss goal).
Ps: I put this picture on my phone because I’m excited for snow and the holidays.
Happy Sunday, friends. ⛷🥰💕It’s going to snow today and I’m going to start cooking for Thanksgiving! Making two pies (pecan and pumpkin) and my brother will bring a third. Fresh pumpkin pie is the best!

Happy Saturday my friends! On Friday I reached my running exercise goals and today I will reach my yoga goals for the week. Wishing you all a healthy and happy first weekend in December! Wishing you all strength against the numerous holiday temptations...💕🧘♀️🍷Taught a yoga class virtually this morning... the theme was grounding and centering. It involved some light core work and a mix of standing and mat based poses. Who doesn’t need some grounding in this frenetic season?
I have surpassed my exercise goals for the week and reevaluated my weights loss goals (again). Over the next couple of weeks, I will work to maintain. I have to be realistic here, peeps. 😊

We all needed it... today I’m going to ski with my daughter, cook, read, do yoga, maybe work in my website, maybe rap presents, do online banking, et cetera. I also need to figure out how to record my classes so that I can build a video on demand library.

I know I will get back on track after the holidays. Hope you all are doing better than I am at resisting all the temptations...
On the plus side (not related to my waistline), I got a lot done yesterday and my family enjoyed our first snow day of the season! ❄️🌨☃️My colleague made me this lovely ornament... homemade gifts are the best! This morning, I did 35 minutes of yoga on@my own and then taught a 60 minute class. That’s my exercise for the day, unless it warms up.
Also made a delicious, nutritious and easy turkey meatloaf for dinner tonight (with veggies and bread or potatoes as sides, of course).

Teaching a class today and then hosting a virtual baby shower for a colleague. It is going to be a cold weekend, so I will be doing weights and yoga inside.

I am more than just a number... I am a healthy older woman who has excellent muscle strength, flexibility and cardiovascular health (not to mention mental health!)

It’s never too late to start again... in the short time I have been on this journey, it seems that I have already made all the mistakes in the book (or most of them!)

Three lbs down, 2 to go to get to where I was last April. Then 2-3 more to get to my preferred weight.
I chose this picture bc I am looking forward to spring!5 lbs to go to my reasonable goal... and I could be okay if I don’t get there (although I will keep trying). Dragged my daughter out for a ski yesterday in the notch and went for a 35 minute ski this morning.
I have school vacation this week, so I will be reading, skiing, sledding with my daughter, cooking and hopefully scheduling some more interviews!
