Portion control-in the past, I used to gave 4 of these delicious meatballs. Heathyish lunch. 😉1 lb down...feeling proud of the healthy changes I am making in my life!Snap shots of my life the last month or so...made chicken cacciatore again this am. Also went for a 48 min jog and did 21 min of standing by the river. Warm out finally in northern New England! Have a great Sunday everyone.Feeling grateful during my morning run that I have the time and ability to exercise safely. Grateful that I have the opportunity to do morning runs and yoga in the woods and along the river. Grateful for the wisdom I have learned and my health. I am grateful that I have been brave enough to try new things over this last year, in spite of having an anxiety disorder. What are you grateful for today?Sausage ragu with extra vegetables-I think that counts as a healthy recipe. Also included are pictures of my daughter at a nearby stream yesterday. It was a win because I've been trying to get her to come outside and exercise with me for a long time. It was like pulling teeth but when she came out she loved it.Have a happy and SAFE holiday weekend. Thanks to the essential workers who work to keep us safe and fed.Been wanting to make Pad Thai, so I tried it today. Missing four ingredients and I think it needs more sauce. Then I entered my food and saw it has a gazillion calories. Will have to search for some healthier (and probably easier) Thai salads to make. You live and you learn...🙂 #nutritioninsightsMy girl braving the frigid waters. I had to drag her out and then she loved it. ♥️🌸🌈🙏😉 #momfeatsAt the river today...my daughter is getting more adventurous (in terms of swimming in the rive) and so am I (today I was in up to my calves). 😉Iced lime water makes it easy...plus the early summ3r weather. It was a beautiful day and I loved the cooler weather on my morning run. Here's me at the river today...day 38 of my streak for "Exercise for at least 10 minutes per day" earned 5/31/2020day 38 of my streak for "Track food or water" earned 5/31/2020Hi, I am hear to lose some pounds, get support and support others. Every day we work to make ourselves more healthy. And we are succeeding...♥️🙏🌸🙂🌈If you fall down, take a deep breath, check for injuries and move on. We all fall down sometimes. ♥️🌈🌸🙂🙏My daughter: simultaneously ages and keeps me young. I have grown into a better person in order to be a better mother to my child. 😁♥️Grateful for my good health, husband and kids, will power, determination, positive habits, cardiovascular fitness, toned muscles, goal achievements and most of all, big heart. Got my new bathing suit top today (one size up from last year, on sale!). School year also ended for my daughter and me today. Last day of work for my husband as he embarks on a new endeavor. Change can be positive! So far rhis morning, I got in .93 miles, 2,275 steps and burned 655 calories just doing chores inside. I speed up my steep stairs and get distracted. Then I go down and realize what I forgot to do upstairs. I really did this several times today so far.
PS: painted rocks by my 10 year old...#moveit, #49yearsyoung, #artisessentialSometimes I think Fitbit is crazy (don't remember climbing 75 floors in a day), but it is very encouraging. ☺️ My dinner was fabulous and I ate ever bit of my little pizza...Got some sugar cones for my family and my daughter experienced ice cream joy. The next day, my husband and daughter picked up some donuts. Both times, I felt no desire to eat sweets. Big win for me! (I still do want sweets from time, but my most typical go to treats are a fig newton and a teaspoon of semisweet chocolate chips...) ♥️🙏♥️Halfway to my goal: 5 lbs down, .55 lbs a week for 9 weeks.
Meow!Celebrate your successes. Reward you with pep talks, gratitude and positive self-talk. We've got this!! ♥️Give me strength. Hoping I will survive the preteen/ teenage years. PS: Here's our cat when he was a little sweetie. (Now he is a big ole cat).Quarantine weight 1, Clare 2

We must prioritize self care. Here's what I am reading at the moment. I adore this author. #quarantinereadingHappy Sunday...achieving great heights. Here are some Fitbit badges and summer blooms. Sending positive energy to you wonderful folks. My weekly gentle yoga class starts soon. Did a bunch of chores this morning and ordered 2 tankinis. Running later! Peace and love, ♥️🙂🌈🌸🙏!Almost within all my macro zones (5 under for protein). Methinks it is because I ran out of my favorite natural peanut butter and refused to eat the processed stuff...that natural peanut butter, and my fondness for it, sends my fat count through the roof. ☺️
PS: The geek in me loves the Fitbit stats.Happy Monday everyone! Reviewed my goals and schedule for the week...ready to begin my day! #goalfeats
PS: It's going to be a hot one, so I will be taking this preteen to the river as much as possible.
PPS: I have been roughly adhering to my plan of = to or less than 10 min a day of Instagram.Good morning, folks. Healthy mantra (repeat after me): I will jot eat crap, crap is a trap! Have a great Tuesday friends...we've got this!♥️🙂🙏🌸🌈Mom question: are kids genetically incapable of hanging up towels? Inquiring minds want to know...
PS: Here's my favorite river, the Pemi. I took my daughter and a friend whose family is in our bubble there yesterday. I got a lot of steps in, following them on the bank as they move down the river and then walking across the river to be with them. #lucktolivehere, #gratefulYou all have inspired me to eat more salads. Today I am going to make a homemade lemon garlic vinaigrette and a greek pizza.
This salad had green leaf lettuce, pecans, dried cranberries, avocado, salt, pepper and lemon juice. #nutritionfeatsEasy to eat the rainbow with salads...homemade vinaigrette with fresh herbs, garlic, olive oil and garlic. Yum! Salad season is officially here...#eattherainbowDoing nearly everything well (h2o, exercise, sleep, limiting screen time and news, tracking food and making healthy food choices). Everything but...I love to eat and tend to eat too much before bed. Sigh. Sometimes I get tired if being "good." I guess I can aim for 90/10 goal of eating in moderation at least 90% of the time, more days than not. PMS is not helping this endeavour. 😋
PS: Here's our cat with a tissue paper cape that my daughter put on him this morning. He was not happy.Fuel for my body. Achieving my goals! #eattherainbow, #nutritionfeats
( low-fat vanilla yogurt, raspberries, dried cranberries, 3 pecan halves and Great Grains Pecan Cluster cereal.Made up a big batch of spicy garlic and chicken for pasta bowls this week. Many times I skip the pasta for a lower carb, higher protein meal. #nutritionfeatsWalking today because of tendon strain. Took a major rest day yesterday. Just did yoga and light weight/ dance workout. Listening to my body...Been making what I call found salads: salads from what I have available each day. Ensures variety. Today was a homemade dressing (not as good as my first), swiss cheese, red peppers, dried cranberries, pecans, chives, salr and pepper.Taught my 4th yoga class yesterday and I nailed it! I have come so far since I started my yoga teacher training last October. #goalfeatsTricolor cheese tortellini with four cheese Mexican blend and lowfat mozzarella, garlic, herbs, olive oil, sweet potato, cauliflower and broccoli.Found this spinach frittata recipe that I am going to try...thought I'd share it in case others were interested. #nutritionfeatsSummer salad: green leaf lettuce, avocado, strawberries, lime, sunflower kernels, salt, pepper, blueberry basil dressing.#nutritionfeats"Found" salad: lettuce, cucumber, corn kalamata olives, red pepper, tricolor cheese tortellini, Mexican blend cheese, blueberry basil dressing.
Had a cheat day yesterday, but no damage was done. 😆 Slow and steady...#nutritionfeats, #eattherainbowIf you do the work, you will see results! Today I weighed in at 6.2 pounds down... feeling proud and happy. Here's a picture of my beautiful preteen, with her favorite sweater and new earrings. Happy Monday to you all...😍Yesterday I was feeling a little smug about all my good habits and then I FELL OFF THE WAGON. 😋 I had a rare cheat day, but it is a good reminder that the goal is healthy habits, not perfection.
PS: This was my favorite purchase from a big grocery shop yesterday. I am turning into my British mother...😄Barbeque pork tenderloin, apple and sweet potato for lunch *plus a little extra of leftovers that weren't so health. 😋Rainy days goals: finish or nearly finish my YTT exam, yoga and weights, work on sundress project with my daughter, finish my book, drink lots of tea, breathe.
PS: Here's one of my yoga books on ancient philosophy and the foundations of yoga.
PPS: Enjoying non scale victories, like improved mood, better family relationships and shorts that were too tight 3 months ago but are now falling of my body. 🥰Working on my daughter's sewing project...thinking it might be too frustrating for her. I get it.
Thinking a lot about motivation and follow thru today...😋
PS: Here are two yummy salads I made this week...one with peaches, one with fried chicken.
Hope you are able to show up for yourself today and take care of yourself (always). 🥰Rainy day here...finshed my daughter's sundress (yay!)...
Yesterday's lunch and dinner: spinach, garlic, red pepper and feta pizza. Very easy, quick and tasty...Took my one, mini vacation of the summer: visiting my brother and his 2 sons in CT. Got plenty of exercise and ate like I was in vacation...going to have to get back on track. It is so easy to backslide. (Sigh).
PS: It was great to have a change of scenery and be at the ocean. We also were safe re: social distancing...Set new goals 4 the next six weeks. I will have reached all of my goals by the end of summer, except for my weight loss and weight training goals. Ten days off course has set me back, but I guess that's part of the process. I know I can do this! I'm also working on being more accepting of my body, since I am no longer young women. #healthybodyimage, #somuchprogress
PS: Here's another picture from my mini vacation. My daughter is enjoying a boating trip with her cousins. Making memories...Thinking about how what I used to view as my weaknesses AR actually some of my greatest strengths. I tend to be intense, but that means that I throw myself into new passions end up challenging myself to learn new skills. I also am very sensitive and as a result I care deeply about social justice and our world. Sometimes our failures turn into our greatest gifts to the world.I'm gonna do this, bit by bit...morning pep talk with coffee...Have faith and believe: everything is going to be okay and you are enough.Camp coffee and Lucy with Frosted Flakes, the breakfast of the champions. ..happy weekend, campers! 😊Happy Thursday, my friends. I hope you all have a positive day and are able to carve out some time for yourselves to recharge your batteries. 🥰🙏💕Getting back to it: reaching my goal of losing .5 a pound a week (after my vacation setback). I have so many NSVs to celebrate, too. Lastly, I'm on track to finish my Yoga Teacher Training within the next 6 weeks.
PS: Here's a picture of my daughter enjoying the last days if summer...*sigh.I don't know who needs to hear this, but you are so much more than the numbers on the scale. This is what I told myself on my morning walk.
PS: here's a picture of a pretty Zinnia to brighten your day.I renewed my commitment to my weight loss goals. I am also in the midst of studying for my final yoga teacher training exam. I put it off and now I have to cram. You think I'd know better at 49! However, that's about the only thing I put off in my life right now. I am at the river with my daughter and her friend, but I brought my flashcards. I hope you all have a happy and safe weekend! Here are some more flowers from my garden for your viewing pleasure.Goodness, life is shifting back into high gear again: I will attend three days of training for work, take 5 yoga classes as my classmates teach their last classes for certification and, last but not least, take my daughter back to school shopping one day.
Not doing so well with maintaining my weight, but I will get back in the groove next week...and do damage control this week!
PS: Here is me at the river a couple of weeks ago....glamour selfie.
Happy Monday everyone! 🥰💕💜Can I just mention that my beautiful little wood nymph has an evil streak? She hid my cell phone this am. I already think I am losing my mind due to menopausal brain fog and she's not making it any better...😊
PS: I'm not losing, but maintaining like a boss. What a loss. 😪 Hope everyone continues to fight for what is right and to stand up for those less fortunate.Maintaining my weight and a healthy body image... feeling better than ever!
Here's a picture of me from back in the day in California.
Hope you all are well and have a safe and happy holiday weekend. 😊🙏💕Okay...having trouble maintaining, so I have to go back to tracking all my food, starting today. Goal: lose 3 lbs by Thanksgiving (before pie season)!
In other news, we had a lovely time camping and hiking in the White Mountain National Forest this weekend. Here's my mini me.
Love to all my Spark friends!Committed to tracking and having 1 treat a day instead of 2 to 3. Nailed it so far today and have a plan for my last snack.
Here's a sweet image for all of us who need to be gentle with ourselves when we fall off the moderate eating wagon. 💗🥰💕Determined to first have my calories in = my calories burned. Once I have success with that goal for a couple of days, I will add a goal of 250 fewer calories in than calories burned. I will gradually increase the number of days for this goal, too. I have a plan...Setting up my online yoga studio... I completed my 200 hour yoga teacher certification! This month I plan to begin teaching and mentoring with a local instructor.
I also surpassesd my first weight loss goal after getting back in the saddle last week. 🥰🙏💗Holding steady here in NH.
Let nature soothe you during these times of uncertainty. Fervently hoping for change... #moveit, #naturenotscreens, #clearlightnhReaching my daily/weekly exercise goals. Working on my Facebook and Instagram pages for my yoga studio. Found a teacher with whom I will mentor. Have 2 students signed up for my 6 week Foundations of Yoga course starting on 10/31/20. Things 🥰🧘♀️💗are happening!69 active minutes today (Fitbit told me) before 9:30 am...Organizing and cleaning up the house. We will all have cozy, fresh linens on our beds tonight. I will also go for a run after it stops drizzling.
Here's a memoji of my daughter and me... how we are in the morning, minus the cookie. ☺ Happy Saturday, Sparkers! Stay positive! 🥰💗🧘♀️Cold and drizzling this am. I woke up late, but I still managed to squeeze in a little cardio before work.
Ps: Here's a picture of my mom, grandfather and aunt in England in the 40s.Maintaining is much harder than I thought it would be. As soon as I stop tracking my food, I get off track (see what I did there?)...
I have adjusted my weight loss expectations. I remind myself that I am 49 and I am a healthy weight.
Ps: Here's a picture from our Halloween party last year. We had fun! 🎃Up super early because I went to bed early last night. Got a full run in, but it was pitch black out. I have been running with a head lamp.
PS: I finished this book last week and it was so good! I highly recommend it.Up early, so I got my full run in. It was snowing slightly! I bundled up and put on my head lamp... Now I am dragging, but it's nothing some Chai tea and a little break time yoga can't fix. #commitment, #gettingitdoneHalfway to my very modest weight loss goal (second time around since I joined Spark People in April)... I need to remember to give it time. Basically, I wanted to lose some lbs before Thanksgiving (the start of pie season!).
Here's some Halloween pictures from years past. Have a safe and fun candy day!First virtual yoga class went very well (except for one technology snafu)... I also started my three month mentorship program this week. I have benefited from it already!
Last night was mellow, but fun. My daughter was giddy.
Happy Sunday to you all, Spark friends! Stay well and stay fierce.
Namaste. 🥰💞💪🙏🧘♀️There was a dusting of snow this morning. The blue moon was beautiful on my run this morning. Getting a bit nervous about the upcoming election, but I am trying not to think about it. Please vote tomorrow. It is so very important. If you don't vote, you can't complain.
PS: This isn't my photo and I am not sure where it was taken, but it is very beautiful.
Keep the faith, everyone, and VOTE!
