BootCamp a.k.a. "Shock Therapy"

Sunday, January 03, 2010

After being "dormant" for over a month...no excuses here...and a weight gain of 2.8 pounds...still no excuses...I knew exactly what I was doing...making choices and living with the consequences...I got a reality check today. I did the first BootCamp cardio video. I know they said it was only 10 minutes, but my body said it was at least 60 - rofl.

I signed up on this team almost a month ago because I had participated in the summer one which I really found quite simple. Of course, during the summer I was clocking in almost 2000 fitness minutes a month so a 10 minute video added to my daily regime was really nothing. Now, look at my fitness minutes for December...hmmmmm...did I have any? Oh, yeah, I think I did go for a walk one day. Yes, it was a very bad month on top of a semi-bad month in November. 'Nuff said. You get the picture.

Well, I turned on my computer, clicked on the cardio video and was shocked into reality. I could not believe how hard it was for me. Of course, I can't jump...no really, I can't jump...it's a brain thing...so I was having to modify as I went along. It was strongly suggested to review the video prior to having to do it for just those reasons. But did I heed that warning. Noooo!!! My bad. Lesson learned. Won't be caught unprepared again.

I very proud of everyone who is participating. I've seen many blogs today that have had before pictures. I applaud you. I didn't get my photo taken today, but I will soon since I am starting a new Battle on the 12th. I will post my measurements today.

Waist 42.75
Bust 45.5
Under Bust 40.0
Hips 45.5
Arms R-13.5 L 13.5
Thigh R-21.0 L21.5
Neck 14.5

Here's to a great start for what I think is going to be an awesome year.

I personally think those bootcamp videos are really tough. Last nights almost kicked my butt! I thought the squats and lunges were a tool of the devil..lol (joking!) It was the longest 10 minutes ever!

Don't worry, before too long that 10 minute video will seem simple again.

You go girl!!! As always, you amaze me with your determination. I, too, fell off the healthy lifestyle wagon - HARD. But I've got my focus back and am ready to kick some major butt! Here's to an amazing 2010 for the both of us, as well as our entire team!!

Pam I admire you for doing the bootcamp despite any limitations. I know you can do it. You have done it before. I also know you will get Sparked again and rack up those fitness minutes. Remember you have to catch up to me!! Hope to hear from you as I miss your wisdom

Wow, Pam! I'm impressed that you're tailoring Bootcamp to fit your own physical abilities! I have a bunch of them, too, and have pretty much limited my exercising to my physical therapy exercises..though they do take about an hour to get done and really help :) Good for you!! And thanks so much for stopping by to welcome me to the CT team. You are a sweetie! emoticon - Susan

If I know you as well as I think I do, this will just make you mad enough to get going again. I was about to send out a flare to bring you in, but I did keep seeing you pop up on my friend feed every now and then, so kind of figured you were "hibernating" (a/k/a building up reserves!) before the next Battle! Welcome back, Sister Warrior!

I also was only able to walk through the first video.

You are brave and showing leadership by posting this blog. It encourages the restof us to keep trying to maintain the program. Go Boot Camp!

It's great you've joined the Boot Camp and starting again.

I can never do Spark's exercise videos. Even with modification they're not suitable for me. I wish they would make some gentler ones for people who are less able than others.

Good luck with the Boot Camp!

Yes it was a shock...mostly to myself that I was not in as good a shape as I believed! Modification was the key for me as well and look forward to the next time I do the video I WILL be better prepared and in shape!

We are on our way! emoticon

I agree with you about the intensity of the exercises today. I wasn't able to complete them. But I'm not giving up. Thanks for your inspiration to keep trying. emoticon
