I'm happy that holidays are over

I admit that this must sound strange but I am happy and actually kind of excited that holidays are over. The summer has pretty much gone by in a blur...6 weeks at my parents to help with my mom's knee surgery and then off to California for a well needed family vacation. We had a great time and I was on the go for minimum 12 hours a day! I always find that my biggest challenge on these kinds of holidays is that b/c the hotels we stayed at had a breakfast buffet, I just eat too much.
My food choices were not bad (alternated veggie omelette with oatmeal every day and also had toast, tons of fresh fruit, etc.) but it was more than I should eat at any one time! The justification that I gave myself is that I did not know when we would be having lunch which usually ended up being around 4-5pm. Our lunches tended to be pretty casual and a lot less food so it did compensate somewhat. Dinners tended to be more substantial so overall my calorie intake must have been quite high
I have gained several pounds over the last 2 months because of not being at home which is why I am happy and actually excited to be getting back into my routine. I already feel lighter since I have been eating normally over the last 2 days. Now I need to form an action plan for getting back into my fitness routine as we decided to temporarily suspend our gym membership - it is about 20 minutes each way from home so I am thinking of looking for other options but that's going to be my next blog. I have not been posting blogs for awhile but that needs to change as I know that the blogs keep me motivated and accountable.
Here's to a fantastic week to my friends!
