Computer Woes

Sunday, November 14, 2010

My little ole laptop is giving me fits and it is getting worse every day. It locks up about every 15 min and the only way to get out of whatever it thinks it is doing is to simply turn it off. I know, that isn't what one should do and it doesn't even tell me anymore when I turn it back on that it wasn't shut down properly-hmmm, guess is is time to really pay attention to the sales that I know are coming for the holidays and think about a new one.
We bought a couple of new tvs this summer to replace our old monsters and of course, being the frugal person that I am, I am using their money to pay for them and making my 12 payments to pay them off without incurring interest so I was hoping to delay a new laptop until that was paid off but not sure I am going to be able to do that as every day things get a little worse.
I have had a toshiba=only lased 3 yrs, an HP before that at work that was ok and this time my acer has lasted nearly 5 yrs so does anyone have any suggestions for another one? I am not into doing much except e-mail, some excel spreadsheets , need a word processing program and of course my pictures and thinking this time I would like a built in webcam to talk to the kids and see them.

Buy a copy of Webroot complete... you can usually find it cheaper on Ebay... Most of the big chain stores which do/offer computer repair/fixing use this. : ) I swear by it. I used to use Norton.. but it's a Hard drive HOG... I"m a computer teacher and always keep up to date on the happening and what makes my machines run effortlessly. In the meantime, go to you windows start menu and type in
    1, disk defragment
    2. disk cleanup

    Hope this helps
