Where Did My Week Go
Thursday, November 18, 2010
Gee, it seems like it was just Monday and we were out enjoying some shopping at the thrift stores and wham, here it is Thursday evening! I don't feel like I even turned around and time just flew.
Good news is my friend, Ruthie, got out of the hospital today. She came by to pick up her dog while I was at the dentist so I didn't get to see her but called her when I got home. She is sounding really tired-of course, they never let you sleep in the hospital anyhow so Dr. Pat told her to go get a good book, her recliner, and lay out in the warm sunshine this afternoon and take a nice long nap. Will find out later if she heeded my advice!
Funny story about yesterday eve I just have to relate. We have a day each month when we get as many residents as we can together to go out to eat to celebrate the birthdays and anniversaries happening in that month and yesterday was the day. There were about 56 signed up to go but what happened when we got to the restaurant is almost tragic. The lady who organizes this failed to convey one very major point-this restaurant is not normally open in the evening, they made and exception for us, BUT they wanted us to pay $25 a person for our meal. Now I would have thought she would have let us all know this as she knows most of us are retired and on budgets and would not want to spend that kind of money-especially for a piece of chicken or fish! If I decided to have a really nice, expensive dinner, it is going to be filet mignon and I won't even go that high for that!!!! Well needless to say, she announced this AFTER we all got there and then made the comment that is we didn't like it we could leave-guess what-over half of us did leave! I felt sorry for the restaurant but not that sorry. Now everyone is so upset they aren't wanting to go to any more meals she arranges. Sorry for those who stayed as we hear the meal wasn't very good, they didn't even get a decent sized serving and the food was lukewarm. A good thing gone awry! Will see what happens in the next couple of weeks-maybe everyone will get over it, not sure!
We went to the hospital after we grabbed a bite at another restaurant down the street-spent about $18 for both of our meals!!! We had a beautiful view of Lake Dora and could see the boats out on it. Not sorry we got up and left.
I had to go to the dentist today and the hygienist is constantly telling me she thinks I need a deep cleaning. Glad when the dentist came in today and told her I didn't need it at the present time. Whew. That is a relief-with no insurance I don't want to even think about that. Just paying for a cleaning is bad enough and I go every 4 months.
I hope everyone out there is having a great week and no excitement like what I have been experiencing. I am ready for a little peace and relaxation.
(In my dreams!)
