Feel Good Wednesday
Wednesday, January 05, 2011
Today was a day to feel good-I headed a food drive over Christmas for the local foodbank and we took the food to them today. I was disappointed that we didn't collect more-only 255 pounds but every little bit helps. The unemployment in our area is quite high-about 13% so there is much need and I know that every little bit helps. For those of our community who forgot or didn't bother to contribute, I hope that they or their families never have to rely on a foodbank.
I know what it means to a family to have to ask for help-even those who have always been self sufficient have found out what it means to ask for help these days. I have a son who has 6 children and has always worked and been able to provide for them until the past 2 years when he has been laid off twice and needed help until he found more work. When the construction industry went into a tailspin so did his livelihood. He has worked anything to keep food on the table and it isn't always enough so I feel quite strongly about helping those less fortunate than I because they live clear across the country from us and strangers have helped them and I want to pass that forward here!
As we go thru this life, remember those less fortunate than you are. Share your blessings as you will get it back many times. I firmly believe this.
