Drs Drive Me Crazy

Thursday, April 28, 2011

The way it is going the drive is pretty short! Remember I asked for patience, well I need it in megadoses now.
After about 5 hrs of sleep, I was back at the hospital before 7 am this morning in hopes of catching the drs as they usually come before going into the office and I did get to talk to his internist who was going to consult with the cardiologist and nephrologist, or at least that is what he told me he planned! He is always good so expect he is trying to get things worked out for hubby. He is the kind of dr who gives us his cell # in case of a problem so I know he is in our corner.
I sat and sat and waited and waited and by 1 PM no dr had shown up so I needed to come home to get the Bi-Pap machine for DH for tonite so decided I should be ok as they would probably come after office hours so I headed home and I popped in to check on Dad and got to visit with my brother and great niece for a few minutes and they fed me a piece of chicken for lunch. Their visit had been planned for a week and was glad to see them. My brother travels a lot for his job and is leaving in a couple weeks for another couple of months. His granddaughter lives in Ga so she was spending a week with him and enjoyed seeing her as we don't get to very often. After that, I came home and got the machine and checked messages, etc. Guess what, nephrologist's nurse called to set up an appt for next Mon! Well, I gave her a call right back and told her he was in the hospital and dr needed to be checking on him there-chest pains just don't keep waiting on a clear spot in the dr's schedule! Don't think she was too happy with me, but tough.
I stopped in to check on Abbie for a couple of minutes and when I mentioned Daddy, she perked up and looked all around like where is he. She really didn't want me to leave her but she is staying with our good friends till tomorrow when I will have to get someone else to take care of her as they leave to go back to Michigan early Sat morning.
I got back to the hospital about 2:45 and guess what, cardiologist had come about 2:15 so I missed him - he was waiting on the nephrologist before he schedules the cath sooooo I just don't know. At this point I am ready to get another nephrologist. We had changed to this one last time DH was in hospital a couple of years ago because his other one was not on staff in either of the hospitals we go to-he goes to Orlando and we aren't going there.
I fear if he isn't scheduled for tomorrow they won't do anything until next week so this is getting really frustrating for both of us.
He had a nice roommate who went home after lunch. He had been in the hospital for 17 days. Nurse was telling me that he had died and they had brought him back. I can believe it-he had bruises all over him. That was from the CPR and not sure what else. Not so sure about his new roomie who arrived about 7. They are loud and giving the staff a rough time so hoping things quiet down when everyone leaves. From listening to them talking, he is supposedly scheduled for a pacemaker tomorrow so maybe he will go to a different room after surgery!
I left earlier tonite and plan to get to bed earlier as it will be another early morning!

Sometimes you just have to get ugly. To get them in motion. My Dh was in the hospital for a month 19 years ago. So I know how you feel like you are gettting the run around.
