I was beginning to wonder if we would ever get him out of the hospital but finally at 9 PM last evening, he got to come home!!!!!!
Yesterday was a very long day for me. I got up very early so I could take care of things at home and was at the hospital by 7 am as the internist said he would be in between 7 and 9 and I wanted to talk to him since he had come in after I came home on Mon. However, he never came so that was for naught. Then I was busy trying to find out when the surgery was to be done but could not get to his nurse and the CNA was relaying messages to me. They decided to let him have breakfast about 9 so I got that ordered and the nurse came in a little later and brought his pills and she still didn't know anything.
I had also asked to talk to the dietician and she had come in after I came home on Mon nite so she told DH she would come in sometime after 11 on Tues but she didn't show up till about 2:30 and I really didn't learn anything from her that I didn't already know.
The vascular surgeon came up about 2 and checked Bill's legs and talked to him and told him he would not recommend surgery to his leg at this time. Since he wasn't having any pain and he had no open sores on his leg, the surgery was more risky than doing nothing. So for now, he is not going to do anything but he told him he was to WALK, WALK, WALK. However, we have to ease into that but we walked the halls of the hospital. I tried to walk 10 min of every hour while I was there so that was my exercise while DH was in there and he walked when they would let him which wasn't too often.
The nursing staff didn't call the internist and he got in about 7:30 PM last eve and he was trying to get us out of there as quickly as possible! He started taking the IV line out in the hallway and got Bill to bleeding so moved him into his room and still had problems so he called for a nurse and got the same response we got so he finally went down and got one! It took about 2 hours but we finally got out of there.
By the time we got home we were so keyed up it was ridiculous. Abbie was sooo happy to see her Daddy. Diane said at dark she started going to the windows and crying-I have been coming to get her about dark and I guess she thought we both had abandoned her.
I think it was after 1 before we finally got to sleep but we slept the sleep of the dead, we didn't wake up till 9 am and I actually felt human but I am wiped out.
I have been busy all day. I had planned on an afternoon nap, but that didn't happen.
I had to get Dad cleaned up, Abbie had to be bathed, I had to change our linens, and ended up doing 2 loads of laundry. I went to Wal-Mart and got his new prescriptions filled. That took over an hour as I waited for them so I didn't have to go back later.
That is how my day has gone and now I need to go water everything as it is HOT down here.
Thanks for all the prayers-God has answered them. I do so appreciate all your well wishes and will soon get back on track and check in on all of you.
Hugs to all my wonderful Spark Friends.
