Getting Back to Normal

Friday, May 13, 2011

DH has been home for 3 days now and life is slowly returning to normal. We are getting up early to walk before it gets too hot. DH isn't able to walk nearly as far as he could just 3 weeks ago when we were doing 3 1/2 mi most mornings, now he is barely making 3/4 but it is a start. He did much better today than he did Wednesday. Hoping to get a mile tomorrow and will stick with that for a few days to help him build back up.
I am really working hard to make sure he is at 2000 mg or below on his sodium and we are getting even more veggies than before. This could be good for both of us.
Had to take dad to the dermatologist this morning and he had a spot they did a biopsy on so probably going to have to take him back in a couple weeks and they will have to remove it is it is cancerous.
This afternoon DH had an appointment with the oncologist and his platelet count was slightly elevated but doctor said it wasn't anything to worry about and he would recheck it in 3 months.
After that, we decided we needed to celebrate just a bit so drove thru McDonalds and had a cone. I know, it wasn't quite the right thing but it was limited and I didn't bring home a half gallon of ice cream and it tasted so good on a hot afternoon. Then we just took a little drive before returning home. Life seemed almost normal!

A cone sounds like the perfect thing for the moment. Life is not one big diet telling us no on every corner!

You deserved a treat for all you have been through. I am sure it didn't hurt a
thing but helped you get back to feeling normal again. HUGS!
