It took me just over a week to get things in line so that I could start going to The Wellness Center to work out and today was my initial visit and assessment. I was actually pleased with some of my results as I came in at average on most things so I guess I am in better shape than I thought even though they told me I need to lose 35-55 lbs. My flexability was above average which surprised me as I thought I was getting worse with age. I was told I need to lose 9% of my body fat, the attendant did a test where they hook you up to a machine on your leg and arm and they see how fast the electric current goes from a to b to determine your percentage of body fat. That was something I had never had done before. I didn't get to go thru all of the machines today as they had an unexpected meeting called so I worked out for 45 minutes on the recumbent bike and will go back tomorrow to finish with my orientation on the machines. I am really excited about going here as I won't have to go outside to walk in the heat. This morning when we got up to walk at 6 am it was already 82 and the humidity was bad so I decided it would not be good for DH to get out there in that so we didn't walk. He is going to his initial visit at the hospital on Thursday and I believe they will start his program either Friday or Monday so if this heat continues I think to protect him it is best not to exercise when it is so hot.
We are also hopeful that our pool in our park will be open by next weekend so on the days we don't go workout, we can go do aqua aerobics in there. I used to go to classes and DH went for therapy for his back where he did it in the pool so we will incorporate that into our exercise program.
I am really excited and hope this is the jumpstart I need to get back to losing weight and getting fit.
