Getting Frustrated & Some Success

Friday, June 24, 2011

As I have detailed in earlier blogs, I have been trying to get my DH his much needed supplies for his bi-pap machine but it seems for every i I dot and t I cross, they throw another roadblock into the path. This has been going on for almost 6 weeks and I am getting very frustrated, but there isn't much I can do besides bug the new supplier as I can't just go anywhere to get these supplies-they must be medicare approved, the dr must give the orders, etc. So, I spend a portion of every day trying to find out where we are and what next must be done in order to get his supplies shipped! Today I was on hold for over 15 min before getting to talk to the customer service person I have been dealing with for the past 2 weeks. Now she says they need to know that he has been compliant in using the machine! I think they are just looking for reasons to not give him these supplies for some unknown reason-maybe it is the new health care reform. She promised to call me again as to whether she got the information from the dr and could ship the supplies but as usual, no phone call! I am not a happy camper but have little I can do other than be a pain in their a$$.
Once I got off the phone with her, we headed to the hospital and got DH enrolled in the cardiac rehab program there. That was the success story of the day. This only took a little over 2 weeks to get this resolved. I know I am more excited about him going to this than he is but I am hoping that by the time he is finished with the program he will be feeling so much better and it will encourage him to continue the exercise program and he will agree to come to The Wellness Center with me. It took us about 90 minutes to get all the paperwork done but that is behind us and they sent home a survey for us to fill out so we did that this afternoon so he is ready to go on Monday! I will drop him off and head on over to the Wellness Center and I will do my workout at the same time - just at a different facility.

I am so sorry you are getting such a runaround. It can be so frustrating. At least you both will get programs - despite the difference in venue. Reminds me when both kids have soccer games ... at the same time... at different fields. I hope your frustrations will be lessened soon.

Sorry you are experiencing such a hassle. You are in Florida right? I've used several medical supply companies to date. I am on Medicare too. Believe me, it's worth getting the dr. to send over the paperwork to another supplier. You shouldn't have to deal with this. I actually utilize more than one at a time (for different supplies). I'm not sure if these suppliers are near you but, I use Parkwood and Praxair. I think Praxair changed their name. I'll have to look it up if you want, let me know.

I know what you mean about the runaround from insurance companies. I have to deal with them every day at work-it's no wonder that I come home with a roaring headache somedays! I hope they get everything straightened out soon & he gets what he needs. I hope he likes the cardiac rehab so that you can do some things together soon.

I sure do hate the runaround! Sometimes I'm left wondering if these people are specially hired without families because they seem to have no empathy! I hope it all gets resolved soon!

and i thought 'digging heels' and making excuses to block any sort of progress was a typical german trait. guess it's everywhere.
wish you & DH lots of success on your fitness programs, sounds promising.
