Happy 4th of July

Monday, July 04, 2011

I hope everyone has had a enjoyable day and celebrated the birth of our nation. We put our flag out this morning and I put dad's out to mark the day. Then it was get busy - I made a cauliflower salad to take to the park's bbq luncheon this afternoon. I normally bake something for dad's contribution but since we have been so hot lately, I cheated and bought an apple pie at the store to take. We had a nice assortment of typical bbq fare along with hamburgers, hot dogs, and brats. Considering a lot of our residents are only here for the winter we had a nice turnout of about 55-60 at the festivities which we also celebrated with patriotic music.
After a nice meal, I took dad home and we came home and I took a nice long nap. Not something I typically do but it felt really good when I got up so guess I needed it.
The fireworks have started this evening and Abbie was really getting nervous so we have given her the medicine we got from the vet and she seems to have relaxed a little-still perks up on the pops but she isn't trembling and panting like she was so maybe we will get thru the nite without her being such a nervous wreck.
Tomorrow it is back to reality and I will hit the gym.

Glad you had a good 4th of July! No fireworks in our area this year! It sure seems weird! emoticon

Pat-it sounds like you had a good 4th so far. We grilled chicken breasts & baked potatoes tonight as it was too hot to cook! Have a wonderful week!
