Well, a few weeks ago, I came face to face with a black snake while tending my flowers and tonite I had a striped snake come up the yard and it didn't move away from me like the black snake. It just stayed about 5 ft away and popped it's head up and down like it was sizing things up. Sure surprised me and I let out a big scream so DH came with the hoe and took care of it. We later found out it was a rat snake and harmless but I much prefer a snake that doesn't hang around when a human is close. Seems we have had more than our fair share of snakes this year. Normally I see maybe 1-2 a year but seeing them every few weeks lately as are others. I am not sure why-maybe because we have been so dry, they are looking for food and water *they need to go down to the lake). I worry that Abbie might come upon a poisonous one so try to keep a close eye on her.
That is my tale for tonite-just a couple of screams when it started me-ha ha!
