Getting on with Life

Monday, November 14, 2011

We have gotten over the initial shock of the cancer diagnosis. Then we have done the research, talked to several doctors, gotten a treatment plan in place, and will be starting Dec 1. DH will get his markers then and after that has time to heal, the oncologist will get things set up, they go over their plan and do practice sessions before starting the actual radiation and that will start Dec 18.

I have been busy working in the park gardens. Have had to get the Halloween decorations down-almost finished with that task! Have to get them down as we decorate for Christmas right after Thanksgiving and might even start earlier so it does not get in the way of running to drs.

My helpers and I have been busy trying to get the pansies planted. I want to get that task done before Dec 1 also. I think we are about 1/2 way there. We have gotten most of the planters cleaned out and replanted and all the area down by the pool area is done.

I have arranged to go to the gym with a friend. We used to go to Contours together. This will keep me on track. I have not been very faithful for the past few weeks and that isn't good as I need to keep myself healthy in order to care for DH & Dad. I have been getting lots of exercise, but feel better when I get in there so this should work. I plan to get DH going after he starts treatment and we know he isn't going to have a problem-I am thinking right after the holidays will work.

I have spent the past couple of weeks trying to keep DH occupied which has not been easy but now that we have a plan, I think he is in a better frame of mind and I won't have to be his nearly constant companion.

We are supposed to go on a boat trip on Thursday and I am looking forward to it as it will mean I get a down day-no work-can't do it out on the water. I am hoping to get to the gym before we head out for the day.

Our weather has been fantastic-we are above average in temperature but should get back to normal Friday. We are enjoying these 80's while we have them. I love it, no a/c or heat needed so that helps with the electric bill/

Life happens and how we deal with it is all that matters and we are embracing each and every day-that is all any of us can do.

Enjoy your life, make the most of it each and every day-we are.

Routines help me when I am stressed. I pray for you and your husband. Know that God has promised He will never leave us nor forsake us and He never sleeps.

I think you are an amazing woman with all that you do daily.

    Hi, Pat,
So glad you have a plan in place. That's a big step forward. Yes, you certainly do need to take care of you in the days leading up to DH's starting his treatments.

I know it's hard not to think about it, but keeping yourself and Hubby busy is probably the best thing you can do right now.

We'll keep you in our prayers. Stay strong. emoticon

    Hi Pat
Your attitude is great:) I know you'll enjoy your day out on the water.

I am already seeing Christmas lights out ... so your decorations won't be completely out of place when they go up. Frankly, though I do hate seeing Christmas stuff in stores so far ahead of time, I really enjoy seeing Christmas lights and decorations up, especially at night now that it's dark so early. Winter starts for me when everyone's decorations come down in early January:(

Thinking of you, and hoping you'll enjoy your day asea:)
    Take care
