My Surprise

Tuesday, November 22, 2011

Those of you who know me, know that I take meals to my dad every day. Everyone in our community laughs when they see me on the golf cart and my plates on it-they yell out "Meals on Wheels". I often take meals to one of his neighbors, Ruth. She lives alone as her husband suffers from alzheimer's and is in the nursing home where he can get specialized care. She ended up in the hospital about a year ago after she had to put him in there and is now on oxygen 24/7 and is very frail so I take food to her quite often also,
Imagine my surprise when she came tooling into our carport on her golf cart and she delivered this to me.

This is one of the most beautiful orchids I think I have ever seen and it is huge. I think of myself as having a green thumb and one of the very few flowers I have killed was an orchid so I am hoping that I can keep this one healthy! She wrote the sweetest note too, it brought me to tears. I certainly didn't take her meals thinking I would get something so this was really a shock.

I also want to share a photo of my dear DH on his graduation day from his cardiac rehab. I am so proud of him for completing his 12 weeks of rehab and hope to get him into The Wellness Center with me after the 1st of the year and when we know how he does with the radiation. The dr seems to think he should be able to do a light program.

Perfectly lovely! My dad used to raise orchids, so whenever I see their flowers, I think of him. Enjoy! And congrats on your hubby's progress. Thank you for encouraging me every day. You are so sweet. Deb

Isn't is wonderful when we do something for others with no expectation of anything in return, and then we're blessed by the doing and doubly blessed when someone does something nice for us! (Whew! that was a long sentence. LOL)

Congratulations to your DH on his graduation, and I'm continuing to pray for him during his radiation treatments.

God bless you both. Happy Thanksgiving.

Pat, you are such an angel. It should come as no surprise that Ruth has appreciated your kind and supportive gestures. You find your family where you can:)

I'm very delighted to see your husband has graduated, too. And it's good news to hear that the doctor feels he will have an "easier" session than some. Let's pray this is a small blip in a gloriously long life:)

    Blessings --

You are a thoughtful neighbor. The flowers are a wonderful gift that will always remind you of the lady that you encourage by showing your caring with a meal.
