Phone cards (and more) for soldiers

Thursday, November 24, 2011

Around this time every year I donate $100 to the USO for phone cards for our military personnel overseas to use to call home, and every year I encourage the rest of you to donate, too. This year I received a link to the USO Wishlist, which has other gifts you can donate besides just phone cards. I still donated phone calls home but I want to encourage everyone to take a look at the Wishlist and see if you would like to donate something that's on the list. I can guarantee that our soldiers will appreciate anything that you may choose to donate for.

I tried to post a link to the wish list but it didn't work. You can get there by going to uso.org and clicking on the link that says "USO Wishbook" at the very top of the page.

Thanks I may not have much money but sometimes I have a little which will go a long way for them. I heard they like getting pens over there instead of pencils. They usually get pencils so my nephew over there says to send pens instead. Hope

What a wonderful idea. Thanks for the suggestion. Having had brothers and a nephew in the military, I try to support our men and women who give so much.

I worked in Military Pay for over 4 years and met many troops in that time - as they were about to go overseas and when they came back. On behalf of the hundreds (or thousands) of troops I've talked to, and the dozens I was able to personally know and become friends with, thank you for your donations and for thinking of them. It gets lonely and boring over there (in some places more than others of course) and having the chance to talk to loved ones means a great deal to them.
