Karen was admitted to the hospital yesterday and her doctor is working hard on getting her what she needs. He has done some basic tests and not sure exactly what this test was but something that should have come out at 50 or less was 1400 so I am thinking it is her white cell count but not sure. She is being medicated with morphine and that seems to be giving her some much needed relief from the pain. She has been suffering something terrible for the past week or so so was happy to hear that. We wanted to go see her, but her son says she is in and out so for now going to keep getting updates from family and let her get the much needed rest. The doctor told her husband to not worry about the insurance, he should concentrate on Karen and he will deal with them! Way to go Doc!
We understand they plan to take her to Orlando and do a special scope to see if the cancer is attached to her aorta, if so, it is going to mean it is inoperable. The dr doesn't think this is the case and at present is very optimistic. Once they know for certain it isn't, then they plan to get her admitted to Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa for surgery.
Thank you everyone for your prayers. I truly believe with prayer Karen will get thru this.

Karen's doctor should definitely receive a commendation for his support! So many doctors today do not seem compassionate! I hope she will continue to get the medical care she needs!

That doctor sounds like an angel, to give her all the
attention and care she needs and is willing to fight for
her rights to good care. Hugs to all and prayers for you
    and her family.

I don't know if this helps you to be able to understand what is probably going on but I have an idea. The blood test that was elevated was probably lipase, a pancreatic enzyme. This is elevated in pancreatitis. It can be very painful. The scope they will probably be doing is a transesophogealechocardiagram or TEE. Basically that is an ultrasound via the esophagus of the heart.

I am so sad for your friend and her family/friends all going through this. There still is hope. There is always hope that this could end well.

It's so nice to know there are still people (Dr's ) in the world that care for the patient the way he is taking caring of your friend, very rare in this day and time. Hope she continues to get the care she needs.

    Praise God

That doctor deserves a huge hug and recommendations somewhere so his decent behaviour gets acknowledged, and perhaps even rewarded. His kind, supportive and positive words are a blessing at a stressful time.

At least Karen is having a small respite from serious pain. Let's pray for the best possible outcome;)
