Company Here

Sunday, February 19, 2012

Our friends arrived about 1 this afternoon and will be here till Tuesday morning. Margie and I go back about 40 years-we met bowling! We have both lost our spouse and remarried so have been thru the ups and downs of life over the years. It is always comforting to get togther with someone who has known you for so long. We can pick up like we have never been apart every time we see each other. We know each other's family and all the little life stories so we always want to catch up there. We have spent the afternoon yakking and now she is dozing in the recliner so I am taking this time to check e-mail.
We still have all day tomorrow and then they head north to Atlanta. Her step-daughter has just been diagnosed with rectal cancer so they are headed there to see if they can help her for a week or so and Margie may come back down depending on what the drs decide to do to treat her.
Karen's family is arriving this weekend and I am happy they are all able to come to see her. I know she wanted to go to them but they are coming to her. She was able to sit out in her Florida room yesterday and watch all the people coming for our community yard sale. I was happy to chat with her for a few minutes. We all want to visit with her but not tire her out so that was perfect.
Enjoy your family and friends-life is fragile so handle with care and stay in touch because every day it comes home to me we never know if we will have a tomorrow.

I am glad Karen's family came to see her. I don't know what a drain this might be on her to travel.

Visiting with friends is precious. As we age, there comes a time when we can't get around like we used to. The last line of your blog is so true. We get caught up in acquiring stuff instead of making relationships. When it comes time to die, the stuff will be left behind and only the relationships will matter.

How nice that your friend is visiting with you. I wish her God-speed in going to see her daughter.

I'm very happy for Karen that her whole family is coming to see her. I'm sure the trip would have been extremely tiring for her to have made. I know her family appreciates having the opportunity for one last good visit.

What wonderful, considerate neighbors and friends you all are for visiting a bit with Karen, but not tiring her out.

Thank you for keeping us updated.
