Bittersweet Enjoyment

Tuesday, March 13, 2012

We have had a good run and arrived safely at our campground today. We are having a great time and taking pics so will be posting them later on. It is nice to be able to get away and enjoy some time away from home but as the title says, it is bittersweet knowing we could not have done this if dad were still alive.
We noticed one of our pineapples has a fruit on it before we left and our first thought for DH & I both was dad will be excited to know that as he was wanting to see one bear fruit and that didn't happen. It brought some tears to my eyes for sure.
We are having some little blips but doing ok on our maiden voyage. Will tell more later when we get home.

Your dad will be enjoying that pineapple right along with you as he is watching over you. So glad you had a safe trip.

I know the feeling. It's similar to me and snow at Christmas time. My dad died on December 20th and we hadn't had any snow yet that year. On the day of his funeral is was snowing. I took that as a sign from my Dad that every thing was going to be okay. Christmas snow (or this year a lack of it) always makes me cry. In fact, I'm getting teary just thinking about it. It's always hard to lose someone and there will always be reminders. Just think of your dad watching over you and maybe that will make you feel better. emoticon

    Yes, I understand! emoticon

I hope you have a great time away! You need the rest and relaxation - you've had a ton to deal with in a very short period of time.

Pat, bittersweet for sure; and all the 'firsts' are going to be hard. But I'm praying for you, and I see others' comments/suggestions are good. I hope you and your DH are able to really enjoy this little trip, and the longer one later this summer.

Aw, Pat, that is a bittersweet thought, but I agree with CANDOK1260 that your father is watching and smiling, and enjoying the renewal that is a fruit tree's gift to the world.

And I'm very glad to hear you're on your way -- have fun!

Awe, but when you eat it you will shed some more tears and then my advice is to talk to him about the taste! You will feel better and you will know that he is listening.

Bittersweet but cleansing in a way. You can put the hurt and
heartache behing you knowing Dad is at peace. Enjoy the time
you and DH have to share. HUGS!
