Skin Cancer Surgery Results and Not Your Mother's Warning
Wednesday, May 30, 2012
So I got all 8 stitches out yesterday and some very good news!!! The surgery removed all the skin cancer!! YIPPEE!! I am done with this chapter of my life. I have the go ahead to get back to working out but my knee still does not have the bend in it I would like so I am going to rest for a few more days. Not to worry tho, when I feel the knee is ready I will slowly get back into the hard pace I used to have before surgery!!
So this is my warning to all --- When you go to the dermatologist for your annual skin cancer check (did you catch that I assumed you were going??? You are, no doubt about it!!) and the dermatologist says they found a spot that looks suspicious, DO NOT BALK!!! Still in shock, I was floored when my dermatologist told me that people tell her not to take a skin sample because of the scar it might leave. OK, she could be wrong and the sample comes back negative and now you have a scab followed by possibly a scar. But did you go to medical school and specialize in this?? Very few of you reading this blog did so I am telling you to listen to the voice that went to med school!!! Because in the balancing scale of things that can go wrong in your life, dying from something that was on its way to being prevented is just downright stupid!!
Oh, and use your sunscreen!!!
