We enjoyed a wonderful 3 days in Iowa City at Sugar Bottom Campground-Vicky & I enjoyed swimming in the lake and we just relaxed mostly and this morning we were off on the last leg of our journey to the rally in Forest City, Ia which was the reason for this trip!
We ran into rain about 30 min after we left and ran in it for about 90 min and it was really hard at times but no problems, we just slowed down and took it easy and it kept things cooler for us.
About 10:30, a big truck with a load of lumber pulled right in front on our friends and Sonny missed it by mere inches. Sure scared me and I was following him! Not 30 min later in a construction zone where traffice was down to just 1 lane, he blew his right rear tire. I saw the black smoke and then their hubcab came rolling across in front on me. Vicky called 911 and supposedly they were to send the police and a someone to change their tire. I think we sat at least 45 min before a state policeman happened along and his first question was could we move as we were in a really dangerous spot-duh, no or we already would have!!! He made a call and within a few minutes we had someone out to change the tire and put on their spare. It was for the front and they have different size tires on front and back so went to put more air in it and tried to get them a new rear tire. No luck at 3 different places so called Winnebago and they had them in stock so we limped on in here. We were lucky it stayed cool and overcast.
We got in and got signed up for service and hopefully that will happen Mon or Tues. We are going to get our generator looked at as it would certainly be nice to count on it for Abbie when we want to stop and eat, etc.
It is nice to be parked and now we can sit and relax for the next week and enjoy the rally. Wi-fi is sporatic as so many are trying to take advantage of it-it is nearly midnight and I was just able to get on and have to be up by 6 am so as the saying goes: I'm outta here!
