Trip Update

Since I was last able to post pics and blog, we have traveled several miles. We have been to 3 different Corp. of Engineer campgrounds. We really enjoyed staying at Sugar Bottom near Iowa City, Iowa. Did not enjoy roasting out in the open field at the rally so much but enjoyed our time there and picked up a lot of information and ideas for our little Rialta.
For some reason, it is not letting me upload any of my pictures so when I get back home I will try again to do that.
We have had extremely hot weather on this trip and our a/c has really been taxed to keep up.
We have been without a generator so have had to leave our engine running a couple of times to keep Abbie cool while we stopped for a bite to eat. We tried to get it fixed at the rally but no luck there. We are going to see if something can be done when we get back to St. Louis as it would certainly be nice to have the roof air run while we stop to eat.
We got to meet up with a number of other Rialta owners at the rally and picked up ideas that I am anxious to get home and work on. We left the rally a day early because of the heat and went back to Sugar Bottom and it was actually a little cooler there and it certainly made us feel better. I think just having shade helped a lot.
When we left that park on Sunday, we headed over to near Canton, Il to visit some friends who winter in our park in Florida. There were two couples who have campers there and we got to spend Sun afternoon and Mon with them and Mon evening we had dinner in Pekin, IL and another couple who also own in our park but live up here met us that eveing for dinner.
We left very early on Tuesday morning (6 am) for Michigan as it was predicted that it would hit 100 in the afternoon and we had about 360 miles to cover. We got very lucky and it remained overcast and we even had some rain and I don't think it got above 85 for our trip here. Since we arrived, it has been in the 80's mostly. Yesterday I think it was either 89 or 90 but the evening cool down into the 60's. We are certainly enjoying that. Today we had quite a rainstorm as the cold front came down and crashed into the hot air mass. That has really cooled things off and wiped out the humidity so it is almost cold!
We plan to leave here on Tues and head back to Ill for my family reunion on Sunday. We won't rush to get there but want to arrive Thur or Fri so we can visit with family and friends in the area.
I hope I am able to post some of my pics later.
