Half-Way Point BLC

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

So I went back to review what I planned out at the start of the BLC20 challenge.

* I committed to following the ChaLEAN Extreme exercise plan for 90 days. I am happy to report that I am now on Week Four of the plan and haven't missed a day. I am adding in cycling and walking and even another ST DVD that I like on my off days. (Nothing that interferes with the intended rest.)

* I am tracking my food as I planned. Have not been very successful at eating small meals every 3 hours; time does get away from me. But I am more conscious of not letting myself skip meals or go too long between meals.

* Rewards. Well, none so far. I was going to reward myself for each 5 pounds lost, but that seems to be slow going for me. Not losing much weight just yet. In fact, I have pretty much hit a wall. But I hope that the adjustment period to lifting more and lifting heavier will be just about over and that my body will start to release some weight (fat).

*Goal: I was hoping for an 8-10 pound loss this round, but I think at this rate a five pound loss would be more realistic. Heck, any loss would be good. I still plan on fitting into a size six at some point. Not this round, but in the future. It's going to take some persistence and commitment.

So I am always up for changing things around to make weight loss happen. For the next few weeks I am going to (and I know this sounds goofy) eat 1/2 grapefruit with every meal and drink 3-4 cups of green tea daily. The idea is to help fill myself up with a low-calorie, low glycemic fruit and to take advantage of the weight loss benefits of green tea (which is stretching it I know, but it does have cancer fighting properties). I also want to eat a larger lunch and a small dinner. Same calories, just spread out a little different. I have this mentality of saving my calories for dinner which I think actually back-fires in my moments of weakness. I get to dinner and I am so hungry that I sample dinner while I make it or I sample the leftovers while I put them away. That's a recipe for disaster.

I am very happy about sticking with my CLX program. I feel good. I feel strong and I am motivated by it. I do see a very small triceps appearing and I can almost see cuts in my biceps. Almost. I am excited to see what the next phase is like. And I feel good about the consistency of lifting. Really, it's the first time I've put this much effort into lifting. I am a cardio queen at heart. So at the end of CLX I plan on ordering a couple more programs to rotate through. It's a new chapter for me.

In a nutshell I am probably batting 60-70%. Room for improvement for sure.

So glad you like ChaLEAN!! I re-started it and I am so in love with this program! You're doing amazing! Just so you know, the first time I did CLX I lost a total of 4 pounds for the entire 90 days. Really track your measurements that is where I always see it!!!

Keep up the great work, girlie!!!

    Great blog!

Dinner time is when most of my mindless eating happens, too.
