Making Progress

Saturday, October 27, 2012

October is nearly over and it has certainly been a busy and interesting month. My dear husband has had to deal with numerous health issues but we are making progress on that score, He has had to go thru numerous tests and see several doctors but I think by year's end my Humpty Dumpty is going to be well on the way to feeling so much better. His surgery on his shoulder is scheduled for Monday and even though he isn't looking forward to it, it will be great to get it behind us also. I pray that it will get rid of the pain in the arm and also help with his neck pain. The dr is not sure if that will get rid of that because he does have a lot of arthritis in that area so this may or may not help with that issue.
I started the Dukan Diet on October 1 and in spite of all that has been going on, I have stayed on track. I am looking forward to seeing how much progress I have made when I measure myself on Nov 1. I can tell my clothes are getting looser but not as quickly as I would like but I am finding out that the older we get, the harder it is to lose the weight even if you do exactly what you should. At times, it was tempting to throw in the towel, but when I commit to something, I am like a dog with a bone, I don't want to be a quitter. I guess like most people I want to succeed. Not so much to just be thinner, but to regain my health. After my dr told me I had to lose this weight or I would be a diabetic in another 6 mo, I realized only I could change this, not the dr, not DH, not anybody but me. It was up to me to make the right choices and do the work to get my eating back on track. This is a change I am committed to for the rest of my life and pray that it will keep me healthy,

Committing and sticking to it is the only way to make
the changes you need. Hoping you see a difference
on November 1st. You have stayed the course, even
with all the stress in your life. Good luck to DH on
Monday. This may solve at least one problem for him.

I'm proud of you, Pat. It's not easy to put our health alongside other priorities, but you did jus that. I hope you get to eat more than Abby's bones soon ;-) I bet she hopes so too!
All the best to dh on his surgery and recovery.

    Hi Pat
You've got the right outlook. It IS up to you. Look at this as a positive and empowering state of affairs. You're in control of what you eat and how much exercise you get. Congratulations on sticking with your plan during a stressful, busy and hectic month. It's only going to get better. ... You are one determined woman, and if any one can do it, YOU can.

Blessings and a prayer that your husband's surgery goes well on Monday,
