Yard Sale

The community we live in does not allow individual yard sales but holds an annual community wide yard sale and it only costs $5 to participate. We have never held one of our own, just purchased things we could not live without from our friends and neighbors but this year dear DH decided we should try to sell some things we needed to get out of our way so we worked Fri morning getting set up and Fri afternoon the local residents got to come around and do an early buy because on the day of the sale we are all too busy manning our stuff! I purchased 2 pr of capri pants as I am needing some in smaller sizes. I actually ended up with 3 pr for $3. One lady gave me a pr since they were stained! I plan to cut them off and make shorts out of them since washing didn't clean them.
Today I was up at 6 am and got in a couple miles before helping DH open things up at home. The sale was scheduled to begin at 8 but we had folks coming in at daylight! The flow of people was pretty steady from a little after 7 until about 11 and then folks just trickled in. We finally shut things down about 1 and felt good that we had gotten rid of quite a bit and didn't have a lot to haul back in. We were disappointed we didn't sell our neutron lawn mower. It is battery powered and is an expensive item and we priced it about 1/5 of the cost of it new and one lady told us she had spent even more recently to get a new one. We just weren't willing to come down to where we didn't even get the price of the new battery we purchased about a year ago!
The best news of the day is that we think we have our RV sold. A man and his wife looked it all over and dickered with DH over the price and they all finally agreed on one and he says he will move some money around and be down in a week or so to get it. He shook hands on it and we can only hope he will come back. We had another man who kept telling us he wanted it and strung us along for almost 3 months and finally admitted this week he wasn't going to buy it. We held it for him all that time when we could have been working to sell it so a bit put out on that score! Oh well, it just wasn't meant to be. We loved our RV travels but DH's health is such that we aren't comfortable doing it any longer so this is for the best.
The best thing is we made enough today that DH can take me out for a nice Valentine's dinner and it helped to pay for our refrigerator repair.
