Accident or Blessing?????

Saturday, February 23, 2013

Today was just a normal day-walk, breakfast and we decided to take the car out so I could get more familiar with it without a lot of traffic and after that things went downhill!! We made a couple of stops at thrift store (my favorite pastime!). While in one, I spied a baker's rack and I knew our friends were looking for one so I called to tell them about the one I saw. Well, they went to check it out and ended up buying it and that is where the accident comes in.
After we got home, DH was fiddling with the golf cart and I was working in the yard, watering plants and trimming our crepe myrtle. DH headed to another friends to see about helping him with the cart and I was here working away. About 15 minutes later here he comes on the cart with people following!!! Well, he stopped to help take the baker's rack off our friends pickup and instead of paying attention to what he was doing, he was worried about Abbie and STEPPED off the back! Big mistake. He could not get up so a couple of the guys picked him up and he kept insisting he was ok.
When he got home, I took off his shoe and sock and no bones sticking out so that was a good sign or so I thought! However, he not only did a piledriver his foot, but he hurt both of his wrists and his ribs! I took him to the urgent care even though he was objecting. After a 2 hour wait, we finally got to see the dr and eventually they took x-rays.
The diagnosis:

costochondritis (chest pain from the ribs) (might have a cracked on or 2 but they don't do anything for it-taping can cause pneumonia and we don't need that again!

Right wrist sprain

Left wrist strain

Avulsion fracture of the calcancous (he has torn his heel away from the bone) This is likely going to need surgery-he is being referred to a specialist-hopefully they can get him in Mon.

However, what I think is a blessing due to this accident-when they did the chest x-ray, the dr thinks he has seen a thoracic aortic aneurysm.! He is ordering an MRA - due to his kidney condition he isn't a good candidate for a cat scan. Hopefully that too will be done on Monday. After we get those findings, we will be consulting with his cardiologist. If this had not happened, we might not have caught this and as the dr says, it bursts, it is all over!!!!

DH is in a lot of pain even though they gave him 2 shots at urgent care and he is on pain meds. Please keep him in your prayers that we can get my Humpty Dumpty put back together. We just got thru with his rehab for his shoulder surgery and thought things were going to get better but I am looking on the bright side that God let this happen so we could discover the aneurysm. God has a plan for everything and I trust he knows best.

Oh my! Sometimes it doesn't rain but that it pours, but then, you already know that God is behind both the rain and the pouring. I'm thankful for that. I'm also thankful that you got Bill to the dr over his objections. God certainly was in that action as well.

What a shame (in our human eyes) that Bill is enduring such pain and problems. Thankfully, you're able to see all this through God's eyes as well. I guess I really WAS led by God to post today's blog.....and I'm glad you're able to continue to rejoice in God.

Yes, my prayers for both you and Bill are going upward as well. Please call on me whenever you want an ear (errr, eye) to unload on, or if/when things seems impossible to bear. I pray that God will undergird you with all the mental, emotional and physical strength you will need as you continue to nurse your husband.

Well, I'm praying all goes well for him, and that he heals quickly.
    Hugs to you,

    Pat, My Friend
That definitely was a drastic tumble! Surely wish this didn't happen...and especially when he just got done with treatment. Please give Bill my regards and healing prayers for recovery. God still does work miracles! Let's stand in agreement and pray that God touches Bill with his mighty power and this is healed sooner than later!
And you will be lifted up for more strength again to endure another difficult time in your life.
What is up with this emoticon You and I said that 2013 was going to be Our Year and it seems for both of us to be getting worse than last! I am going to forget that thought and hopefully things Will turn around for us both! emoticon emoticon So sorry to have had to read all about this new upheaval in your lives.
But I do believe like you and the rest of the ladies here, that is was God revealing serious issues to you.
My mom was having foot surgery by a private doctor so he ordered a new chest x-ray before the procedure as he didn't know her or have her past records. Other than this she was fine. That x-ray showed not only lung cancer but a brain aneursym. So off to Mayo Clinic for treatment. Within 4 months both conditions had been treated and healing was on the way...and we've had another 12 YEARS with her as a result!
God works in mysterious ways and not always to our understanding but as you know, according to His will and plan and all we can do is Trust the Lord! Let Go and Let God! So again you both have many prayers of intercession on your behalfs.
God Loves You...And Me Too! emoticon You guys are in my thoughts!

Pat he really had to pay for that blessing. It was so fortunate that it happened but also that you insisted that he go to the doctor. Men can be so stubborn! He is probably tired of going to the doctor, bless his heart. I am sure you are tired of taking him.

You were supposed to have a better year with no doctors in it.

My father a few years back went to the doctor and they took an xray of his neck for something and they found lung cancer on accident. He had surgery and went hunting six weeks later. However, he had some reaction and swelled up like the Michelen Man. He was so swollen all over his body they had to put a second chest tube in while he was awake. I guess that wasn't fun because the nurse couldn't take it and left the room! He couldn't see for a couple of days because his eyes were so swollen. We would hold his hand and talk to him to let him know we were there, It was awful but also a blessing.

I will keep you both in my heart my friend.

You did find the bright side of this. Had it not happened, you
would have no clue. Hope the doctor saw it wrong but if not,
hope that the aneurysm can be repaired and DH can live
a long and healthier life. Sorry about all the pain he is in.
I will be praying for both of you.
