Surgery Update

Surgery went well and DH now has 3 pins in his hip. Surgeon has said he is not going to be able to put weight on that leg for 6-8 weeks. His position was plan on it being 8 and if we get lucky maybe he can start bearing some weight sooner!
He spent from Friday night when he finally got admitted until about 3 PM on Tuesday when he was transferred to a rehab center. This is not the typical nursing home rehab-he has intense therapy for 3 hours every morning and 1 hr in the afternoons. He has hopped about 70 ft with the walker but that bothered his shoulder (only 4 months since he had rotator cuff surgery) and his wrists are still not well from the 1st fall. They finally admitted his therapy is a challenge with the heel in a cast, the hip, the wrists, the ribs and the shoulder-it limits what they can do with him!!!
The friends have started building the ramp-I have been in and out to watch the progress. They are using some material from a ramp our neighbor had and no longer needed. Our friend, Sonny, and wife of one of the builders, Mary, went to pick up the additional lumber this morning and dumped the load on the road when they took off at the 2nd stoplight! Luckily a semi was behind them and held up traffic for a bit and 2 young men came to help them get it all reloaded into the truckbed. The frame is all assembled and the platform is done-tomorrow they will get the ramp and railings done.
Once this is done, we should be ready to bring DH home-someone will have to come out to make sure everything is in place to keep him safe at home and possibly he will get to come by Tuesday. I have to go for family caretaker training on Monday at 7:15! Guess they really do not want me to get some rest!
