Where does time go????

Wednesday, July 17, 2013

Is there a big conspiracy going on??? I get up and think of all the things I need to get done and plan my day and before I know it, it is evening and so often I don't get everything done and I just shake my head!
I think it is something like why one day we suddenly wake up and our clothes don't fit anymore! There are little time robbers out there and we can't see them but they take up little globs of time without us even realizing it.
I had a productive morning from 6:30 till 10:30. I got my walk in, did about 90 min of weeding and ran to Lowes for more supplies for our shower project. Then those little time robbers appeared.
I sat down to take care of some odd and ends of paperwork. I always check our credit card statement to the receipts. Today there was a strange $4 charge on it. I could not figure out what it was for. It was small and I could have just ignored it, but I don't do that-I was an accounting manager for almost 25 years so little things bug me if they don't balance! I called the credit card company and they did a little looking on it for me-they said it was an internet charge for some advertising! Told them I didn't make the charge and it sounded pretty "fishy" to me. The gal I was talking to agreed and then she transferred me to the fraud unit. After going over this again the lady here also agreed that this was likely a scam. Somehow someone had gotten our credit card information and was putting through a small charge to see if we were paying attention and if they got this by us, they would go for bigger amounts. The account is now closed so surprise to those scammers-they aren't going to get anything!! Those little time robbers-this took me almost an hour!
Next up was getting online to reorder DH's medicine. That should have taken 10 minutes at most. Well, it took 39 minutes. The system would not let me log on so I had to call in and yes, I did order the medicine verbally, but I wanted to be able to do this online so then I had to get tech support and get everything reset. So 39 minutes later I got that accomplished.
Does anyone else have little time stealers and how do you deal with them????
Of course I am also taking care of DH, he requires eye drops 4x a day, 3 different drops administered 5 minutes apart so more time stealing. I can't do much between putting in the drops or I have to go wash up again as we have to be really careful of infection.
Guess I best get off here and busy before those little time stealers find me and rob me of more of my time!!

Time seems to fly away for me too! I never seem to finish all the things I planned to do that day! I too check my credit card statements very carefully!

We also check our credit card charges against receipts. I'm so glad you were able to catch that, and that company worked WITH you to protect you.

Time thieves? Um-hm. Often. And too often it's 'good' things that we're doing, but the time is 'lost' anyway.

I have this problem too. It seems that the older I get, the faster time goes!

when we had a charge and the fraud dept looked into it they still said we owed it! It took us a MONTH+ and they were still insisting! needless to say we told them that we would take our business elsewhere and viola! card cancelled, new card and no more issues! You were lucky!

Pat when I worked in the world of business I went to many time management classes. They suggest a list with A B and C Most important things are A. You finish as many as you can and go on to B and C lists.

Some days I was happy to get ONE thing on an A list done. I have known you now for months and I can tell you that you are one of the most productive people I know. The things you took care of today were extremely important. You will get to those B and C things tomorrow!

Most of the time, DH is my time stealer, with all of
his little requests that will "just take a minute".
Sure. Then the other time stealer is MYSELF,
when I take on one more project and think I'll
get it done before I finish what I have already
started. Guess I better whip us both into shape.
    Hope tomorrow is better. HUGS!

Time thieving happens all too easily, doesn't it?!
I'm glad you caught the credit card thieving. I've had that happen a couple times now. Ugg!

Yep, I'm very familiar with time stealers. Commendable that you put an end to that $4 charge. I need to be more careful in areas like that. My observation is that nothing is as easy as it ought to be!! Hang in there. -Marsha

All too well...I know about them! It does help to know you aren't alone in the battle.
Some days it is just easier to deal with than other days. We expect too much of ourselves. Again you have much going on caring for DH. Don't allow the little robbers
to get away with too much!

emoticon on being smarter and showing those frauders who is the boss!
Am glad you were able to emoticon them without it being worse!

I enjoyed a little "steal" time with you! emoticon
