Nothing ever goes as planned anymore!!

Sunday, September 01, 2013

We have been planning to head up north to visit the kids, grandkids and great grandkids for the past month and we were going to leave this Tues-we have about 12 days with no doctor appointments-or so we thought!!
I have been trying to get it all together the past few days BUT now everything is on hold. emoticon
I decided this morning that I needed to get a little extra rest if I was going to be driving for 8 or 9 hours for 2 days to get to my sons so I didn't get up till 7:30 and only walked one round - about 2.5 miles. When I got back, I ate breakfast and then made a Texas sheet cake for a BBQ we were to attend this afternoon. Then I went to get DH up. He said he was freezing but he was burning up. emoticon I took his temperature and it was 99.5 so got him up and had him eat breakfast and take his morning meds-it was after 10 by this time!
After that, he went back to sleep in his recliner all wrapped up in a big afghan. I let him sleep till about 12:30 as I read the Sunday paper and then I fell asleep too! When we woke up, he felt even hotter and I decided I needed to recheck his temperature. OMG, it was 103.2. Told him to get up and get ready we were going to Urgent Care as that is dangerous in an adult! We got there about 1 and they took him right in.
They ran a urine test-I thought he might have a UTI but that was negative. They did a chest x-ray-he does not have pneumonia. They did a test for the flu and that was negative. They ran bloodwork and he does have an elevated white count but they could not point to anything specific so the doctor ordered an IV antibiotic and is putting him on oral antibiotics for the next 5 days. He has to return on Tuesday to be rechecked
At this point we do not know if we are going to be able to go north or not. The dr said if he goes 24 hours without a temperature then we can think about it.
It seems every time we plan a trip he get ill-maybe he is allergic to travel!

I'm praying that your husband's temperature comes down and that you find out what caused it. I think the bright side is what PATRICIA441 posted, that you were not on the road when this happened. Plus, you don't want him to be sick during a visit and maybe infect others.

I am praying that your husband gets better and that you still will be able to go on the trip.

Oh Pat...I didn't read this blog before I wrote my note to you on our team.
I am so sorry to hear DH has come down with something...that the temp is dangerously high...that it happens every time you get ready to vacation and that there is one more thing upon you! Good Grief...when does it end emoticon emoticon
Surely will be praying harder and hope you get some fast results...the shot should surely be a boost.
Keep us posted. And here are emoticon for you emoticon

I am so sorry to hear this. I hope the antibiotics kick in quickly and he feels better soon. Maybe he will feel better and the fever will be gone so you can leave on Wednesday. I'm sending positive vibes your way.

Hope DH gets better real soon. That's a really really high temp so he's definitely fighting something. Praying things get better for him really soon and you're able to make the trip. emoticon

I am so very sorry your DH is ill. Thanks be to God you were able to get care for him so quickly and thanks be to God you were not on the road when he got to feeling bad. There is a reason you are to stay home for a few days. I know how disappointed you must be. You will get there to your family when the time is right for you and your husband. I will keep you both in prayer. Hugs. Pat

Hang in there, my friend, hang in there. Antibiotics usually kick in within 2 days of starting them so keep your hope alive. He will be on medication for 2 1/2 days by Tuesday afternoon and if you leave Wednesday, it is only one day late. I will pray for your hubby. emoticon

Oh my word! That's awful. I hope the antibiotics do the trick and that your DH is soon all well. It IS ironic that every time you plan to go somewhere, that he gets sick - and yes! 103.2 IS an awfully high temp for an adult! I'm so glad you were able to get him medical care today.

I hope the trip isn't off altogether, as I know you two were hoping, planning and expecting to go. I'll be praying for your DH's good health, and God's Will to be done in your lives.
