This is just one of the many overlooks we stopped at to marvel at the beautiful colors on the trees while we traveled on the Blue Ridge Parkway
Another view on the parkway
One of the lovely views we saw
The escort told us that on this same trip last week, the leaves did not have color and that fog obscured most of the views so we really lucked out on the week we picked for our trip.
We got to spend nearly 3 hours at the Atlanta Aquarium on our way back to Florida.
We got to see several albino alligators. They always amaze me-we have seen them at Gatorland so it wasn't totally a shock to us.
I loved the little seahorses at the aquarium
These are some of the sea creatures that was in a shallow tank that allowed visitors to see and touch.
Across the street from the aquarium was the park where the Olympics were held and we had a few minutes so we walked in the park. Also the headquarters for Coca-Cola was next door so a lot of things to do in a small area if one had the time!
This monument was left after the Olympics.
This is a picture of MaryMacs-the tea room where we ate dinner. It is the only remaining tea room in Atlanta-at one time there were 17. You pick your entrée and the rest of the meal is served family style. If you get a chance, I would highly recommend eating there. The food was great-all homecooked. Servers were pleasant and the owner came by to check on our group-we filled the front entry room!
DH & ( on the bus on the final leg of our journey.
We left early Monday morning and arrived in Helen, GA about 2:30. We spend 3 hours browsing Helen and checking out the shops. We had dinner on our own that evening so ate at a steak house overlooking the river that ran thru the town. We spent an hour after that at the local Oktoberfest. We were a little disappointed with it. The next day we went to The Biltmore in Asheville. Our final day was in Atlanta after riding for 3 hours on the Parkway.
I have to download more pics of the first two days.
Hope you enjoyed a ride with me on the bus!
