Christmas Song

Listen to the newest Christmas Song

I don't know about you, but to me this is not celebrating but Christmas-the birth of Christ.
I am tired of all those who can't stand Christmas-forget all the politically correct stuff-remember the reason for the season.

It is written by Don Murdock from Colbourne, Ontario., and it is not a Holiday song, it's a CHRISTMAS song. He was tired of Politically Correct Holiday Songs.

The songs that have been written in the last 15-20 years are mostly just commercial. I still go back to the old ones: the hymns, Bing Crosby, Perry Como, etc.

I too am fed up with political correctness, wherever and however it rears its head. I am equally fed up with the fanatics on the opposite end of whatever question ( in general terms, not saying that about anyone posting below! ) who insist everyone blindly follow their agenda.

For Christmas...as a non-Christian it does not offend me to see Nativity displays, to hear and wish others "Merry Christmas", hear traditional religious based Christmas carols, etc.

I do draw the line at a government institution displaying religious symbols because the next step is an official state/national religion...which will eventually snowball downhill into restrictions on those not of the faith, discriminations and persecutions, etc. Just look at the mess for so many years between England and Ireland, 1st World countries. Not to mention the issues in Latin America, the Middle East, China...all because of "official" religions.

So "keep the Christ in Christmas" at a personal and public level, AND allow the same courtesy to the significant holidays of other religions. For me just keep it out of the official government promotions.

But...the historian in my compels me to point out Jesus wasn't actually born on "Christmas" December 25, and the "holiday" this month actually predates the establishment of the Christian religion, having a "pagan" origin.

But a celebration can be at any time, and way back when, if there were political reasons for choosing to celebrate Christ's birth in December...why not? It isn't the date that is important but rather what is, or should be, being celebrated...peace, love, kindness and hope. And those transcend a specific denomination.

    Merry Christmas!
