Air Force Armament Museum at Eglin in Fort Walton Beach, FL
No matter how old we get, the kid comes out and we just have to pretend we are something else-I got to play pilot for a few minutes!
After we left the museum, we headed over to Pensacola and ate a very late lunch at
McGuire's Irish Pub
I hope you can make out the dollars hanging down from the ceiling at McGuires. According
to them, there is over $1,000,000 in dollars where people sign their name to it and it is hung
up and they get a certificate saying they are Irish for the day!
As it was raining, we checked into the Days Inn near downtown Pensacola and planned to
go to the Naval Air Museum the following day. Mother Nature had other plans-about 8 PM we lost electric power and when I looked out the window, I saw water up to the front bumper of our Prius! DH backed it up to higher ground while I let our friend know so they could move their car too.
I don't know that this really shows how bad it got, but a man was walking in the water in front of the rooms we were in and it was up to his thighs. The water actually came into our rooms and we had to move from the 1st to the 3rd floors and we were without power from 8 PM till 4 am. The lighting isn't good as it was the emergency lights lighting the parking lot.
Due to all the flooding we had to cut our trip short and came home the next day once the flooding went down and I-10 was back open!
We have decided we do not go on vacations, we go on adventures!!!
